I have the older version 2 of this keyboard, (this is v3) and it works fine with a ps3.
The signal is pants though, if i'm sat 2 metres+ it just doesn't pick up the keystrokes at all. Hopefully they've improved that aswell as the key layout with this version.

these are dreadful

I've been using one of these for the last few months, very happy with it, nice comfortable to use keyboard and great to type on. Bit odd they are selling it on its own, usually only avaialble in a bundle with mouse.

The singal is OK, but it uses RF not Bluetooth, so I wouldn't have thought it would work on a PS3.

I presume you have some evidence to back that up?

Version 2 100% does so i see no reason why this V3 would not. Just plug in the receiver and away you go, easy as that.

Yes it would work when the reciever is plugged in, but not over bluetooth as its an RF keyboard.

yep i had the deskset also and it was rubbish. unresponsive, misses mouse clicks (obviously this is just the KB)

the keyboard would miss key strokes and then press the same key loads of times

i'm not the only one

At least compare like for like when your criticizing products. Thats the v2, this is the v3.

Going off that method of thinking you should have said that you don't think it will work with a PC either as it need's the receiver in that to work aswell :?

Well clearly that was the V2 you had, not the V3 which this deal is about, so your comments are null and void.

Most PS3 owners tend to prefer bluetooth keyboards to take advantage of the onboard bluetooth, a desktop PC is not the same.

Dont forget the load of batteries it uses

Now £16.76!

Yeh 4 batteries a year... or 2 if you use rechargeables.

Update the price! Would have bought at £20, but this has sweetened the deal, and I put aside the nagging voice in my head saying "don't spend any more money!

Thanks OP, Went for one. I am using the MS Wireless 6000 V2 Desktop Set and agree the wireless reaction is not great, Missing keys sometimes, I never seem to have problems with the mouse. Looks like V3 of this keyboard uses a different reciever and operating frequency 2.4GHz instead of the 27MHz frequency with V2. Review here of V3 desktop set:- http://www.maximumcpu.net/archives/1150

Although the hardware of Microsoft seems very well built, I have 2 of these and find that the wireless range is not very far on the mouse. If I get about 3-5 feet, I am lucky, so as a desktop device ok, but if you are trying to use on a media centre TV based product, you might struggle

Sorry just realised does not come with a mouse :-)

I use a Logitech mx 6200 wireless set for my Revo. My keyboard is 6 to 7 feet away from the receiver and work perfectly.

agree re: wireless being pants....its terrible.....had to get a seperate adptor with long usb cable so that the dongle could reside 1/2m away....now fine

I agree the Logitec wireless range is better that the microsoft products

I think if like you you are using a Revo, and you Vesa Mount it, then your range may be even less, because it will be screened with the LCD/Plasma panel

Great just what we needed we have missing buttons on this key board thanks to my 3 year old!!! HOT

Lol, looks like you are the only one.

The only one who is too dumb to spot that this is v3, and the link you've posted is the v2 which is a completely different product.

Congrats!

On topic, if you have issues with unresponsiveness etc with this version, make sure the receiver is not too close to your keyboard/monitor etc. I get these v3's in as standard for work and thats the only issue I ever have with them.

Apart from the idiot who didn't realise unplugging the receiver to plug her memory stick in was the cause of her keyboard not working... sigh.
#24
have added an edit to the OP with new price until Mike comes back online to change it
#25
i think this is for the v2
the v3 is £39.57 @amazon, see here:

I have got this:
http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=microsoft+wireless+1000+desktop&ved=0CB8QrQQwAg&cid=4432745462450275640&sa=button#p

I use it for a media centre PC. I intially had issues with the receiver working 2 foot away - it was close to the plasma and pc and other electronics...guess the EMF killed reception. Since plugging in a USB extension cable and having the receiver away from the front, the reception has been perfect and works further away.

I didn't buy Logitech as we had a few sets at work...they drain batteries like hell!

Thats for the keyboard and mouse. This deal is just for the keyboard.

Can this keyboard use the wireless usb adapter I already have from my Microsoft mobile mouse 6000?
#29
Nice spot thanks

218 degrees - this is way overpriced to me, especially as it doesn't include a mouse and has pretty bad reviews regarding range.

do people just troll adding heat without even looking?
#31
I posted this a while back including the wireless mouse, phone around and see if it's atill available.

Many people have mice already, and don't want to take the risk of using bundled mice. I've used the one bundled with the Desktop 6000 series and don't like it. hence I bought a bluetrack mouse that tracks on more surfaces than the mouse bundled in the Desktop 6000 series. Additionally, the mouse in the bundle uses 2AA batteries, my current Microsoft mouse uses 1 and lasts around 1-2 months depending on usage.

Just because a deal doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make it a bad deal.

I agree, a wireless keyboard for just shy of £17 is a good deal. Unfortunately Amazon have sold out now so you have to get them from MyMemory

As I have said on my previous posting, the only previous problem I have had with MS products was with the Mouse wireless range. but the keyboards are OK. The batteries that I have last me around 3-4 month in my work place, so they get quite a bit of hammer!

Price now down to £11.95 but from 3rd Party Supplier MyMemory, 5 left in stock. No doubt no refund from Amazon.

Do people just troll adding stupid comments, just because they think its fine to spend £5 on a Tesco Value keyboard?

These are good, solid, well wearing keyboards. Not the budget crap that you can get for £10 delivered from ebuyer. People scrimp on important things like keyboards and mice in exchange for spending an extra £10 on a graphics card - when these are much, much more important.

i ordered one from amazon last monday (15th) for £16.76 and received it today.
Not tried it yet. the box has 2.4 GHz wireless on the back. so i assume it is the v3 as expected.
it should be a good upgrade from my wired Microsoft 500 keyboard which has been great considering the price (around £8 if you shop around).
