doe's not appear so

£10+ new elsewhere few quid pre owned at game etc

95p is a bargain for 20 games on one disc

Heat added for price and it brings back happy memories of my youth.
#4
Might as well buy it at that price, especially if it runs on the 360. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: I see you've edited to say it doesn't run on the 360 now. :(

It really doesn't appear to be BC, its not on the lists an i just tried my copy (hoping they'd hushed up compatibility so it didn't hinder arcade sales) and it certainly didn't work for me.

staggering price if you've got an OG box though.

You would think it would work though :? thought all xbox games are bc
:?
#7
As djezz rightly says - this is NOT 360 compatible.

Great price, though!

Nah, its really only a small percentage that work and a significant proportion of those are (to put it generously) less than ideal.

The 360 backwards wiki is good (it has compatibility notes unlike the official site)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

The only machines id trust this gen for BC are Nintendo machines.

Doh, thought you knew it definitely worked on the 360. Oh well, only wasted 95p. Haha.

It might work on modded 360's, What is the point in the 360 having bc if it cant play all games :? that does not make sense

Mine isn't modded.

I know, but to be honest, there aren't that many Xbox games I would still play today.
#12
Bah. I really wanted to play Gauntlet, as well. :(

Awesome game.

It allows them to advertise the console as having backwards compatibility, which when the current gen of consoles came out was felt to be an important sales point. Hence why the initial (US/JP) versions of the PS3 basically had PS2 hardware inside to provide hardware based compatibility; the XBox 360 wasn't designed for that and hence they basically rushed in software based emulation for a number of big-name titles to compete. But this allowed the PS3 to advertise perfect backwards compatibility against the limited version in the 360 for a while. Of course, the PS3 then moved to software emulation as well, and then dropped BC completely. The only UK version of the PS3 that has any form of BC - and it's the software version - is the original 60GB.

Surely all games for xbox are gonna be round this price?

Nope, but I've just tried this in my tape deck on my Amstrad CPC 464 and it runs, you can even select which game to run using the "cat" command.
#16
Doh...86p wasted, bought before checking 360 compatibility. Would've been worth it just for Defender.

Hey. Dont disrespect the Xbox. I still use mine. Granted, with a modchip to run Xbox Media Centre, but its breathed new life into an old console. And NO console on the market can match it for its media capabilities.

BIG shame Midway filed bankruptcy. Now owned by Warner.

It's not hardware compatible, 360 can only emulate has no hardware to do so.
