Seems a good price for a decent vacuum hoover.
Or you could go for the 2000w posted in comment below.
I'm fed up with her mopping about Henry overheating.
so as well as the house, I've also been sweeping the net for a new one, its half the size, same price and far better at the job, and its direct from amazon plus as a bonus the reviews are pretty decent.

Paid £54 three weeks ago @ Tesco Direct.

I think £99 is the average selling price.

Do Hoover own Miele?

No, they're a separate company.

Do these have a motorised brush bar for carpets, I'd not how does it perform on carpets? (quite short).
Always had uprights but fed up with our Dyson where the suction from the brush bar is poor. Concerned about pick up on carpets though.

A hoover is a hoover, a miele is a miele! The title should say - Seems a good price for a decent VACUUM!! :p

Also a good deal with 6 years warranty as opposed to 2 years with this miele!

Not sure what this particular models is like but I bought Miele S8310 Power Plus, from John Lewis for £169.99. After owning 3 Dyson's in the past. At double the price of the Miele. In my opinion these are better, especially if you have a dog that sheds all over the place. S8310 doesn't have a motorised brush bar. Has SIX different suction settings. If you put it on the hard floor setting on your carpet - the suction is so great, that you can't physically push the thing, it's that powerful. Miele S8310 Link

S8310 comes with 2 year warranty. You can extend it to 10 YEARS for £50 through Miele themselves. There'll be a leaflet in the box.

I bought one of these recently (for iirc 85 via outlet).

It's ok, an improvement on our VAX - branded bags are pricey, and there's no means of adjusting the length of the metal pipe. The various heads fit on a bracket on the hose which doesn't seem too smart. It also doesn't seem to compact down very well for storage.

Our cleaner seems happy enough with it though.

We've mostly got wooden floors, but on rugs it seems fine. As good as / if not better than our VAX with a turbo brush.

Here's a moderately interesting article about the EU mucking about with vacuum cleaner motor sizes - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/10423431/EU-energy-saving-rules-cut-power-of-vacuum-cleaners.html

COLD....

Had one of these which broke just after my 2 year guarantee expired. Went back to a Samsung and got one for £100 with a 5 year guarantee from Samsung. Added to that Miele bags add to the cost as they are not cheap. Find the bagless vacuum a cheaper long term investment, especially with the peace of mind of the long warranty. You can grab a Samsung for £125-175 and get cashback of upto £75.

Here are the link for the guarantee and cashback. Just Google the models to see what retailers are cheapest to get the best deals, Bear in mind that Purchases from Costco, Electro Centre, Electronic Empire, Ebay, Premier AV centre, Total Digital, Brighthouse, RLR distribution, Amazon market place and PRC Ltd are specifically excluded from this Promotion.

Also cashback maybe available. I got a few quid when i went for this deal, which is expired, but there are lots of deals out there.

Miele is the best vacuum on the market. There was a test in internet about 20 vacuums like dyson **** oO etc and miele S4210 (1800W) beat them all. Somehow the test is not anymore possible to see on the website: D-TEST 2007 http://www.odkurzacze.vysavace-domacnost.cz/ Wonder why? :| (decrease in sales of other vacuum cleaners? (_;) ) In the test Miele has easily sucked flour from the ground and when you remove dirt bag it was clean inside, no mark of dust anywhere inside your Miele vacuum - clean like new. In fact it will always be clean like that. Air drawn into comes out from only one place - HEPA filter on the top. Air is not blown out from behind the wheel or out of the hole with the cable - so no dust spreading in your home oO . Other vacuums suck the dust and spread it everywhere. I bought mine S4211 in late 2007 for 120 pounds, now Germans must change the model number to S4213 after so many years because of some modification like 2000W (1800W then). People like Germany`s cars like Audi Mercedes BMW VW Opel (Vauxhall) or Porsche because they can mostly relay on them. Germany`s vacuum Miele is a product for your whole life. Back in 2007 I get 5y warranty, now you can get even 10!! Why? because you will never have to go to service whit it. The vacuum engine has not been replaced by chinese **** so 10y warranty.

Miele make some of the finest vacuum cleaners in the world, far, far better than that vile man, Sir James and his awful products, I kid you not!

Calling a Miele a hoover, both sucks and blows!

Miele are the best at what they do, vacuums, washers whatever they are brilliant.
Also you can usually get cheaper generic bags from espares and they are really good bags. Espares will send you a £5 off voucher code, if you don't use them for a while and they have quick delivery.

MIELE OR HENRY ??

Currys has one of the cat and dog ones at half price £150 online. We swear by miele. They have a lifetime guarantee I think. The beater head on the cat and dog one is brilliant. We have a big black dog and our beige carpet goes from black to beige again with very little effort! It also comes with various implements for nooks and crannies. Different settings for rugs and upholstery etc.

We have bought a Miele and its great, wouldnt buy anything else now,

Why do people have to nitpick lol.... hoover, miele

This vacuum cleaner is a joke. You can have a free one if you want to repair it. Its currently outside my house. This cleaner was bought new and had to be returned at 4 weeks as it stopped working..

I'm not kidding. This is normal use too in a home.
Complaints are as follows.

On button started sticking after 4 weeks. Item returned and replaced. The on button started sticking again. After 2 months, the item no longer turned on via the button. We got used tio having to put the plug in.

The filters are very poor and go quickly. The top replaceable filter blows off and needs replacing every 2-3 weeks. Once it lasted fo r weeks. Very poor design!

The bags are held in via a return spring. This often used to pop out. Its not too big a deal to insert, but its there. Also the bags don't always sit right and you can end up with the rubbish it picks up being outside the bag etc.

BTW I'm now looking after a new vacuum cleaner. Not Miele!!

My 24 yr old Miele S243 vacu has just overheated and died sadly! Only ever bought two spare parts which are easily sourced! Will definitely buy another!
