Miele W5740 Washing Machine
The ultimate in gentle, environmentally friendly laundry care

Which Best Buy Model 2010

These machines get great reviews and are designed to last 20 years.

Miele are currently offering free 10 year parts and labour

Use voucher code MDA6 for 6% off (until 24/04) plus Quidco for another 8% which comes to £772 which seems a good deal for the Rolls Royce of machines RRP £1020, about £950 at most retailers.

Bought one myself because my old machine had died but I since fixed it (blocked filter - doh!); now I have to decide whether to cancel or enjoy.

This is my first post since I became addicted a few weeks ago; I've since bought lots of things I may not otherwise but spent very little.

What about new generation of wasching machines? After 5 years standard washer could be much better compare with this one.Is not better to buy something 3 times cheaper?

Yeah, they're not creating a very good image. EDIT - Comment referring to Best Buy and not Miele.

Thanks Sliwka.. I think it's more about build quality than technology but I guess if they come up with something that will wash, iron and put away the clothes I'll be a bit annoyed.

They seemed so nice on the phone! ...I think I may re-consider my purchase.

I have had a Miele washing machine for twenty years. Not a single call-out in all that time. Also have one of their dishwashers that is still on the job after 25 years.

If it's any help to people considering buying, we've had our Miele now for 13 years and it's still as good as new-ish. John Lewis had £50 off some models when I last looked for someone.

Which model you have? Which class?

Another tactic is to get an AEG or Bosch for around £400 that come with a 5 years parts and labout warranty.

Either option is much better than spending £300 on a Hotpoint.

Bosch have never included a 5 year guarantee - if you are going to buy the guarantee you might as well just buy a Siemens, it will be cheaper overall and they include a 5 year makers guarantee.

not true any more - Miele are not the company they used to be - ask their dealers they will tell you.

There are many others that offer better machines for less money, LG, Panasonic, Siemens etc

certain manufacturers are already testing machines which do not use water - in 10 years time your machine will be the equivalent to a Morris Marina. Miele is out of date tech. the day you buy it as they do not invest in improving their production facilities.

Do you have any links to show this - the Miele dealers I spoke to locally before buying a dishwasher and tumbledryer said they were great. Miele still keep winning the Which reviews - fact, not some unquoted ealer.

Sorry but Miele and ISE are the best quality.

Woops, meant Siemens and not Bosch. No links I'm afraid but we got an AEG from Dixons a while back using codes for £400 with a 5 year warranty.

I think it best we try and stick to whether the deal is value or we'll go as off topic as other threads do rather than talking about a possible technology that uses no water, but presumably something else that may not be better.

The deal is for a very well built machine with 10 year warranty, and likely to last beyond that. I have a large family and have at last been able to afford to buy quality products - I feel they save in the long term and for me the reliability is very re-assuring.

More analogous to a five year old Rolls Royce; the Morris Marina was a bad car from the day it left the drawing board. If I don't buy for this reason it may be like not buying a BMW 3 series because VW may one day produce a 300 mpg car...I can think of better reasons for not buying a BMW.

Works out £77 a year - most cheapy washing machines costing £200 - 300 come with 1 year guarantee so this seems a bargain...

Even if a £250 washing machine lasts 2 years then in 10 years you'll need 5 = £1250 compared to this for < £800...

I am a huge fan of Miele and have everything from the washing machine to the steam oven (family member works for them so have benefited from a great discount & always look out for the bargains!!)

As I understand it the service engineer is able to connect their laptop to your machine and download the latest programmes/software which keeps your machine up to date.

I have a 1300 spin model at the moment, prior to this I had a 1600 spin AEG machine and can honestly say that I found the 1300 spins just as well as the 1600 with less creasing!!

Would buy Miele everytime discount or no discount.

What are the facts behind such a quote?; Miele are widely acknowledged to be the best out there

Some people may not be able to afford the price which is fair enough but you have to pay for quality

I personally would not consider another make for a fridge, washing machine or dishwasher having previoulsy owned the likes of Siemens , Bosch and Dyson
#27
They are good but so fugly ! OK if you have a utility room oO

For the record, I have a Bosch which hasn't broken down once since I bought it 11 years ago :p

LOL seriously, inexperience comments which will mis-guide people

Why buy an AEG its just a re-bangded Electrolux as they own them, they just charge you more because of the name most are exactly the same.

Siemens and Bosch are the same company Bosch own Siemens and guess what, same machines just different badge, less so at the higher end of the market but low to mid priced Bosch/Siemens are the same machines.

And sorry Miele are by far the best machines ever made, have always been, LG & Panasonic are no where near them in terms of performance and reliability. Bosch/Siemens top of the range machines are good but still not even close to Miele.

Best Buy are atrocious. I swear that after illegally taking money from my account, lies on multiple occasions and a lack of management input, they have around another week to reply to me or I put them in court and they can come defend themselves.

[ISE 10 is widely reguarded to be as good if not better than a Miele

I would still go for Miele, ISE10 is just for Independants retailers that must be able to servicve them as well and I think there jsut arent enough agents out there to cover. It's fantastic for reliability it uses the the known reliable parts by the best quality compoment makers you wont find a Plaset pump in there LOL.
The wash performance isnt that great compared to Miele models even few years back.

And these will be more expensive and breakdown more, great value for money, and its more like 20 years for any non water than 10. Sonic Washine machines wont work lot of research is been abandoned. Steam washing machines are just way to expensive and not that good.

Your Miele will still be going strong cleaning your laundy brilliantly and you will be given 20+ years of not having to worry about it, not getting it fixed, not having buy a replacement when you find out your 5 year old washing machine part you want is now obsolete.

Ive been to Miele factory and you wont believe it, clinical new & modern with all the latest tech, everything is thoughly tested and their old clunky tech you think it is has more quality industry engineers working on improving it then a BMW would.

Have to disagree with you - ordered Bosch washing machine from deal on here - delivered on date agreed no problem - but there was a piece of metal running round between the inner & outer drums so requested a different one - no problems turned up with replacement on schedule and very polite both times.
Also received calls from bestbuy checking the deliveries were up to scratch.

How long did you own a ISE 1607W and a Miele to test the performance side by side

Dont get me wrong im not saying ISE's are bad machines, ive seen models from both in action, but generally Meile's have given the better results.

Ive been in the industry for 25+ years, I use to sell the older ISE's to Miele owners (got more profit) and feedback was it wasnt as good, I had to swap a few back to Miele from people I pursuaded to take an ISE and you got to trust the people who are after the best generally the older generation tbh.

Stopped doing them when my ISE engie moved on and I asked to use another agents engies to repair them which I couldnt. I tried my best for it but just couldnt shift enough of them because people just didnt know enough about ISE to be confident to buy them, and its still the same now

I think we did have an ISE that was been repaired in the workshop once that didnt clean the engies overall and he was most frustrated LOL

That is ridiculous. Over the past 9 years our family has grown from 2 adults and 1 baby to 2 adults and 3 schoolchildren so you can imagine the amount of washing we have to do but we're only on our second machine in that time - £500 for 9 years.
If I bought a more expensive machine I'd probably want to spend a fortune on Calgon to protect it from the terrible limescale around here.

but you missing some important facts

drums used in miele washing machines are tough and can wishstand a coin in the drum

the drums in your cheaper ones are plastic...yes thats even you £500 siemens will almost ceratinly be destroyed by a coin......yes you can replace them but its not worth it as it will cost almost as much, if not more than a new washing machine

these are very silent....bosch's and siemens and cheapo ones sound like a jet plan is near you when they are on full spin.....i can stand next to our meile and whsipaer to the person next to me whilst its on full spin.....i am whispering louder than the wm....you can do that with your bosch's etc

dont get me wrong there have been some good deals lately....bought my parents the bosch in the dixons deal for <£250....bargain, but its very loud
