they had a different router for dongles before.

well if you combine this with one of the free dongles it'd be somewhat cheaper so no big deal i'm afraid

this is a combined router/dongle
the one before was the huawei wireless router which you had to plug the dongle into.
there is a downside to this new MiFi router however, the range is only 3-4 metres.:x

Can't see this going hot. Mobile internet isn't that great, wouldn't like being on it with others sharing!

I think this can be done at the moment with some phones anyway.

mobile broadband on 3 is the best, and i've had speeds up to 4.06mbps
MiFi is the future.

Nothing you can't already do with your laptop + dongle although difficult for casual users.

just a thought..... but why not just get a phone with wifi capabilities & uses your existing router???
#16
stay away from three seriously! this company is the biggest joke, indian call centres, service which is absolutely appaling!
#17
From what I've read it simply allows wireless devices to access the internet where there's sufficient 3g coverage and insufficient wireless coverage.
#18
As above - been achieving this with joiku and my 95 for 2 years - does hit the battery big time tho!

Re: the above
..err is it small?
err is portable?
...errr can you simply insert a SIM or do you have to plug in a supplementary 3g datacard/dongle
Personally I use WMWIFIROUTER on my Touch HD. Interested users can get this app below ( broadcasts your 3G signal outward via the WMphone's WIFI.. I use it WISELY all the time!

http://global.wmwifirouter.com/consumer/
http://global.wmwifirouter.com/trial/

I believe there are several handsets out there that can be used as BB modems via bluetooth or miniusb cable

BUT

this "3" MIFI lets you drop your 3G sim card in there (i.e. no separate router or separate plugin dongle/data card required unlike the comparison in (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop...ProductID=8118) & no external power supply needed)
.. and it would let you use it as a traditional wired dongle if you wish (albeit a larger one)
..and would also let you connect to it via WIFI ( a further advantage)

MIFI's are over £200 on expansys which makes this a bloody good price for what it does & if you're into freelove & sharing your connection!

by the way the £5 topuptrick should work with this

To use a different networks 3G simcard( if you find 3 intolerable) then get this SIM overlay below ..should allow other SIMS to work

...lol ..well you wouldn't really want it out of your sight/immediate vicinity for pretty obvious reasons
...3-4 metre working distance seems reasonable to prevent a would-be thief from getting a 30m headstart on you.
..secondly the required longer throw of the wifi signal would require more power which would shorten the rechargeable battery life
