Has anyone ordered from these guys before?. Sounds too good to be true. It would cost them more than $1.85 to ship to the UK.

Yep ! Takes forever to arrive (3 to 4 weeks). .........and if you've got to send anything back you can forget it. :x

I've ordered several items from them - all have taken less than a week to arrive. The quality of goods is not stellar, but for the price, good value.

Personally I would not buy any big-ticket items such as mobile phones, but for small items such as bits for the computer, or novelties, they are fine and it is worth the risk.
#4
Thanks for the info. Still I don't think I trust these guys with my credit card details.
#5
I am sure that is the same tripod I got from Poundland a while back, rather flimsy but worth 92p :)

Yep, used them *loads* over the last year or so. Also, used them before that on their old site (can't remember the name now).

They have been around for ages and if there is a problem they've always been really good at sorting it. One thing they don't have is speed - if you want something quickly, don't bother. Equally, if you want a fast response to questions, don't bother.

If you want an amazing amount of stupidly cheap tat with the odd hidden gem then go order, they are great :)

As for trusting them with a credit card, I probably would now yes. Originally however I was suspicious and used paypal (which is how I still pay them). Of course, that does require you to trust paypal which is a whole different question :-)

i have ordered loads too (over 20 items), you don't give them your credit card details - you order through paypal.
expect at least 10 days for delivery and you'll be happy.

The prices (and quality) are about the same as ebay, but without the rip-off postage costs.

highly recommended

Used them loads - like everyone else says, dead slow to deliver, but at their prices, I'm not complaining. Great for stocking stuffers, too (my grandsons are still playing with the LED torches in the shape of a pig, with the lights in the nostrils, total cost, $1.18 each, delivered!)

Payment is by Paypal, and I've had no problems thus far.

I ordered the other tripod which took roughly 10 days to arrive, i though i might as well get this one as well, if its worse i haven't really lost out.
#10
Ordered a different one (the slightly stronger Mini 8-inch Metal Tripod for $4.48) using PayPal.

Seems like good value for around £2.30.
#11
Cheers. Ordered through Paypal, no postal fees 92p delivered!

Much less effort than setting up an account and punching in your credit card details. As quick and easy as eBay 'Buy It Now' and with no postage fees. Quality.
#12
exellent work mr tripod. I look forward to you finding many more tripod bargains. voted hot.

All payment is via PayPal - so they never see your card details.

Go to yout local poundland or 99p store, No WAITING no POSTAGE

I'd like to agree with the idea of buying a similar item from Poundland or a 99p store (if applicable). Saving 7-8p to have something shipped or air-freight seems a bit extravagent and wasteful when the savings aren't that much.

Never order anything from them which costs more than £18 or you will probably be stung for VAT and customs charges.

Deal Extreme are good if your products turn up and are undamaged, however if you want replacement items or refunds then you stand pretty much no chance at all, voted cold.

Ordered the other one and arrived today! Ordered this one too - hot deal!
#20
the exact same item is in the poundland!! great if you are going on holiday and need a small tripod. Although the construction is poor and made of plastic. Supose ok for a pound. If you go to poundland you don't have to wait for delivery!!!

I suppose it depends if you are driving to Poundland, paying for fuel and parking, or if you can walk there.

I dunno about that - I ordered about 10 quids worth of stuff, and they put HK$45 on the customs form which equals about 3 quid. So either this is their true cost of goods (and I would not be surprised if it was) or they just habitually fiddle the declaration.
#23
I expect they habitually fiddle the declaration - do they always tick the "gift" box too? UK customs is well aware of such antics. And anyway, it is the cost that you paid for the goods which is the only relevant figure.
#24
interesting ... for 92p contributes to the cost of

- Their website
- Warehouse
- Picking
- Packing
- Flight
- Postman
- etc etc ..

How does that work??? Amazing. I'd like to see their business model.

Have been using the site for ages and never had a problem.

Recently ordered 110 things to distribute as wedding gifts, at a total cost of around £200 (including bulk discount). Package arrived two weeks later with declared value of $5.

I also ordered a cheap proper tripod delivered for about £10, that was exactly the same as jessops sell for about £20.

Couldn't agree more - I've had some 20+ orders delivered by these guys, no problems whatsoever. Yes, they do take a few weeks to arrive, but for the price you pay, they're great. Regarding tax, don't worry; I've had a phone worth $200 delivered from them with not a hint of customs charges (and yes, it was valued at HKD$45 = £2.50!). When I've cancelled an order, I've always been refunded within 3 days. By the way, I've ordered this tripod and it's already been dispatched along with the 'rubber band launcher' http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11379:)
