http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Veho-Muvi-Micro-DV-Camcorder-with-2Gb-SD-Memory-2Mpix-Ultra-Small-55mm-High-HOT!

end of the day 99.9% of top quality, inflated price stuff comes from china anyway.

I've only had 1 problem with them and the email was replied to the next day. Apart from that i've had some delay in orders but otherwise I would recommend them to anyone.

I've always had very good customer service from Dealextreme. Any faulty items have always been replaced promptly.

i don't see much point in it

btw - have used dealextreme many many times - it helps you become a patient person however it aways delivers (barring 1 crappy wii nunchuck (which i blame the manufacturer for not dealetreme))

Thank you all above, was a bit reticent of dealextreme due to the distance mainly, same as i am with chinese sellers on fleabay, just me being over cautious for no reason!, but for me I wont spend very much with such sellers, but im glad you have had good experiences

Excellent deal. This is just a generic version of the Veho Muvi which has been way overpriced for ages. I've been wanting one of these for my bike and I've been waiting for the price to fall. I've now ordered one. As for Deal Extreme, well I've never had any bother with them. Damaged, faulty or, failed items have been promptly replaced without hassle.
Hot :)

What do you expect for £13.50!!?

I am after something like this that will loop record so I can put it in the car in case I am in an accident. I know there is one out there with a GPS sensor that autosaves the video but something like this with contnious recording would be great. Any suggestions?

still waiting for my order since dispatch on 2nd dec 09!!!!! They made me wait two months just in case it turned up!!!! Then they will only resend if I give them an order with a tracking number so they can tag the missing order on to it. Now I do not get a reply!!!! Shocking CS if that's what you call it. Great if you get the goods, but rubbish if there is a problem.

;-) you are looking at the wrong type of camera. This would make a good spy cam for example keeping an eye on the baby sitter or as aerotec has said to keep in the car recording in case of an accident, helps when claiming insurance.

With the Veho muvi people use it in sports, mounted on them self or bikes to record the action to keep maybe to improve on or youtube.

no mention of dimensions as to how small it is?

this maybe due to customs over here, there was once I order something from an overseas seller it took a long time, eventually I get a letter from customs asking me to pay tax and delivery charge. This is one of the risk when buying stuff overseas.

You'd get better video quality from most mobile phones =S.

you probably would with this copy, if the image quality is anywhere near the Veho muvi then I would disagree, I have not got one of these to compare. I have to say the Veho muvi takes quite good videos even when the room is only lit by a bulb.

there is one review on deal extreme and two on ebuyer

Looking at the specs, this one has a 0.3 megapixel lens and the muvi has a 2 megapixel lens.

Guess this would affect the quality of the picture?

Alternative (and slightly cheaper source):

Have some heat - good price from a store.

I got a couple of these from eBay for $17.99 each with free delivery. That's about £11.50 and gives additional protection if they never turn up (depends how much faith you have in eBay's buyer protection schemes!).

don't think so they were for two computer cables well under customs limit. That's not the point I was trying to make, it's all about their customer service which is poor if anything goes wrong

I've bought this from DX, and am happy with it. Comes with a few accessories so that you can mount it somewhere sensible, - most useful for me being the clip so that I can make videos at karate. Video quality is slightly better than I expected.

Here's a youtube vid taken on one of these:

one on ebay says 2000K and this one says 300k. Does that mean the ebay one is better?.

Probably, but you wouldn't want to strap your mobile phone to your MTB forks, or crash helmet when snowboarding whilst going down hill doing jumps....this type of camera is for recording extreme spots from the first person perspective.

There is a great thread about these non branded mini DV's on bike raider, lots of technical info and what cards work best etc.

That sold me on ti to be honest - anything that steals looks is normally loads more than this :-D

I brought one off fleabay for £7, u get a lot for the money including various mounts. Great for the money, but bottom line, the video quality is very poor and there is a huge date stamp on my videos which I can't get rid off. Also you need to spent some time doing trial and error to get an idea what you will be recording, half of the test videos I did where pointing in a different direction than what I thought.
banned#34
I think the date stamp can be removed....it's been done by posters on the bike raider thread I posted.

also using the best card that your model can support will improve the quality.
#35
Good cam , cheaper on ebay though , i have 5 of these and 2 of the car alarm cams , for the price they do a decent enough job.
#36
Had one in my car for a bit .

Just as good as the Muvi , Also comes with all the Extra Stands etc that the Muvi charges extra for !

get a good class 6 8gb Mem card .. And the picture quality will be brill !
#37
I own this camera, ordered as a result of the bikeradar thread. Video quality is excellent, sound quality is ok but not great, it is attached to a spare helmet and has filmed hours of commutes and MTB ride.

It needs a high speed class 6 card to prevent jerky recording, it comes with a silicone case and a variety of mounts.

If you commute on a bike it is also a great way of recording the idiots in cars who consider cyclists a lower form of life.

Look for your registration number on Youtube, if you have cut me up then you may just be featured

Good cam , cheaper on ebay though

It's not as straight forward as that...there are so many generic copies of the muvi with varying quality, They are roughly the same, but it only takes a different lens or light sensor or even a different micro SD card and the quality of the video will change, ether better or worse....you pays your money and takes your chance....watch videos of all the different cameras from different suppliers is the best way to find a good one.
#39
Hot price, but would never deal with this company again. Ever.

Hi all your knowledgeable people.

I have an original Muvi and have a lots of good mtbing footage (so I would recommend these types of cams), however I really want to watch my one video of my over-the-handlebar crash footage, but the AVI file seems to be corrupt in some way.

Neither WMP or winamp plays it so I tried to play it without success in VLC and then tried to fix it in divfix++, but that just crashes!

I've tried loading it into virtual dub mod but it couldnt find the number of frames per second so defaults it to 15 but still cant play the 400mb file. I'm not sure how headers are written (at the end?) in AVIs and whether the camera was turned off in the crash that would have caused this problem.

Does anyone know how to repair or at least extract as much video from this correupt AVI?

Thanks in advance.
