Hi all,

I saw this in an advert on the Guardian website. My interest piqued by the brief description coupled with the £12.95 price tag (it later transpired that it was only the accessory SD card being sold for £12.95), I thought I'd take a look.

And, even at £39.95, it looks quite good. Records Freeview (with pause and rewind), plays DivX, records straight to SD card, can be connected to a USB hard drive.

I'm really trying to figure out what the catch is. Granted, it will almost certainly be rather... quirky, but the reviews seem pretty good overall. I know these "reader offers" are usually just a way to sell overpriced, poorly-made tat, but this one looks like it might just be worth a punt.

I know one of the reviews on that page is very negative, but I suppose you could always pay by credit card and do a chargeback if it's that knackered.

Anyway, please discuss

Less than £22 delivered UK seller or £16 delivered China seller on Ebay.

Ah, that's a much better offer. I would have looked on eBay myself but I didn't know what to search for, since there's no make or model number given.

Has anyone had any experience with the unit? Is it worth buying (off eBay)?

Also, would the Chinese one be able to receive Freeview?

Where do you think all the Freeview boxes are made?
