I bought two of these for my kids, they are very good. Just a couple of tips really.

When flying, be gentle with the controls.

And, they do not have a forward/backward control, so to get it to do more than just hover, you need to add some weight to the nose. I found using the supplied metal stickers good, then adding some electricians tape so it looks like part of the paint job. Great fun!

Ive heard nothing but good things about the Syma Fairy, apparently they are better than the Picoos and dont suffer from the "rocking" problem when flying forwards as the Picoos do.

Last time i checked they were a pre-order at £17.99, so heated and repped. Good timing too as i broke my favourtie Picoo today! Thanks!

Looks good for the money.
Only slight concern is it is infra red. Does this limit the range?
#14
Yes and no BigDonut.

They are only really designed to fly indoors, and are about as good as the average telly remote, and i never have to move to point my remote at the telly. Very occasionally it'll lose the signal and drop out of the air, but this is rare and all part of the fun-see if you can "catch" it again before it hits the ground!

I wouldnt use them outside though because sometimes when they get out of range they keep going up and up, and you have to throw the transmitter up in the air to get back in range. Also, they only weigh about ten grammes so the wind could actually blow it away/onto a roof etc...

I'd go for it to be honest mate, the majority of people love these things and for a tenner its a steal, assuming its at least as good as a Picoo Z. The only drawback is sometimes you get a dud copter that doesnt fly at all, but play.com are usually OK with returns.

Oh, and welcome to HUKD!

Do you think these would sell for more on ebay?
#16
Cheapest that you can currently get them for on eBay is £13, not worth it at less than £4 profit, plus you've got to subtract eBay fees from that.

So which is it guys? If it just goes round and round I'll stick to my sycamore seeds.

After originally going mad over the Fairy, i'm sonmewhat dubious about its build quality, hard nose and handling characteristics now.

I'd say if your on a budget get a Fairy, if not the Picoo's probably worth the extra cost, but don't forget to blu-tack the nose to weigh down the front.
