It works! It's detected your money and it's taking it in BULKRATE....even in the dark with the ultra violet :thinking:no wonder we can't ever find any...:?

Excellent price . I paid £1.50 from LedShoppe a couple of months ago for the same one .

I'm sorry - obviously really dumb - what's a money detector exactly?

I think it uses UV light to distinguish real banknotes from fake ones.

Thankyou - I didn't have a clue. Don't think I need one though - don't have enough notes to even think about buying this!

Have you tried it on fake notes then? :whistling:

this sort of device is excellent for when seling a car for example and putting your mind at rest when taking the cash from the buyer.
#15
I use one to spot repairs or restoration on antiques like pottery and porcelain at auctions, the UV light shows up any flaws otherwise hidden, a handy little tool if you buy at boot sales and auctions.

Most white paper contain optical brighteners its the same stuff that they put in washing powder to make whites "whiter than white" (it fluoresces under ultraviolet light) banknotes do not contain brighteners. so forgeries glow under the UV light real ones dont...... the problem is that many forgers are wise to this and source special paper which dosn't glow and real notes that have been through the wash do.

Wrong, I did work experience at a bank, real notes have special UV markings on them, that's what the blank whit circle in the middle at the bottom is, it has the notes value in it.

You are right about new notes having uv markings on them but you are wrong in thinking my answer is incorrect

from collectors website

"An inexpensive longwave lamp operated with 4 "AA" batteries. Designed to detect counterfeit banknotes (apparently forgers have great difficulty obtaining non-fluorescent paper so counterfeit notes fluoresce brightly under u/v whereas genuine notes do not."

Thats not it at all, as the previous poster said, there is a special area on a banknnote designed to fluoresce under UV, it has nothing to do with the entire note fluorescing- thats just silly

About ten days last time - its also worth requesting their email for offers first - as with virtually every order there is a code you can enter for a discount or free item.

Why not?! Just ordered one!
#24
can these be trusted to deliver to uk? and not steal my details etc?
#25

Customs let you receive goods up to 18 quid excluding postage. However, its a concession and not the law.

If the goods are marked as a gift you can receive up to 36 quids worth - so when you are checking prices - its advisable to say - 'hi - i am buying this for my grannies birthday - can you mark it as a gift please' - if they say no - then ask the next person.

If you have to pay tax - you pay far more than you would on the same item in the UK - as there is a collection fee (about 8 quid now i think) that you pay to the royal mail for collecting the taxes and fees off you before you get your mail.

As I recall when you buy from them - it goes through one of the standard third party billing companies - and not their own site.

I've had loads of stuff off this company, always arrives in about a week or two ..... and i've never had a problem.

These are nifty for looking at your driving licence and passport too, there's a classic steering wheel on new licences that can only be seen under UV and of course there's always THOSE stains that just won't go away

My God you could pretend all night you were working for CSi Bolton and check the bedsheets to annoy the hell outta the wife, girlfriend, boyfriend whatever .......just to add it to the " seamen " Database.....

Yeh you're right, my Dad works as an immigration officer and did a course at a passport printing facility to learn the security features. He also learnt the security features in bank notes and showed me.
When you get the little torch shine it on a £5 note and you will see the number 5 show up in Red and Yellow.
So yeh, thats one of the ways to use this.
