It uses the same board as the TX5 Pro.

Skip using the stock firmware as it is buggy and install this instead.

Custom ROM

Or install LibreElec, which can either be installed straight to the nand or an external SD card, so that you can have a dual boot setup.

LibreElec

When flashing firmware you will also need a male A USB to male A USB cable like this

There both 2gb ram the only difference is the storage size. I too paid fiver more and ordered from amazon these boxes support usb and memory card so memory isnt an issue as much as warranty and customer service not to mention the customs issues ive had in the past and if you want to play 4k video 16gb is nothing. Heat added though great price

16GB is irrelevant when most poeple just use these for streaming.

16GB is irrelevant when most poeple just use these for streaming.
That was exactly my point and if you actual want to play a 4k video file the last one I watched was 55gb so the 16gb is useless

Wonder if they've sorted the Wi-Fi out on these, the Mini M8S and Mini M8S II (8GB) both had problems.

Review of the 16GB version, this reviewer says it's a Beelink box (?) About Wi-Fi (at 10:33) - seems to be better - https://youtu.be/ZXx10hempU0?t=631

Good specs but yes I'd pay a little more and get if from a retailer with better customer service than Gearbest and won't offer you a fraction of what you paid for it, if anything goes wrong.

This is very good info thanks! I looked for this for my T95M but did not find any other firmwares. Is this firmware confirmed working on this box?

Can someone link to a decent equivalent on Amazon? There's so many to choose from, it's confusing.

Any decent 4k streaming apps for this box?
Sure, it does 4k, but other than downloading them, how else can you watch 4k?

I want to move on from the Amazon Fire Stick which is wi fi to a more stable Ethernet based system to use ie; Kodi.etc
Will this device or a better one be more stable than the fire stick?

Does anyone know of a box similar to this one but that has a blu-ray drive in it? For the most part I stream from a NAS, but every so often we like to have the option of putting a disc in and just watching.

We currently have a blu ray player that has DLNA capability but its a bit out of date and is struggling with the newer codecs (particularly some of the audio ones).

I was pleased they sent the 2.0GHz, 2GB, 16GB version because a different version was pictured and 2 speeds for the CPU were listed, but I got the best of what I was expecting.

Passthrough on these boxes (with Kodi at least) is hit and miss at best - it would be great if they could finally sort it, but it seems to pot luck whether you can actually get a combination of hardware, driver, kernel and kodi version that actually works and doesn't cause any other issues (like pausing video).

There is currently no such box in existence.

Well, apart from kodi which was alreadyvmentioned, you can probably install BBC player, itv player..., browse the internet(connect a wireless mouse+keyboard first), add some Bluetooth controllers and you can play lots of android games...

Isn't it always this price or thereabouts?

Owned and setup quite a few of these and similar boxes now, all from China, all delivered in less than 2 weeks usually. I've not had the cause to use customer services yet so I can't comment on that but the price/dispatch time was excellent imo.

I've had no problem with Android 6 but I do increasingly find that the add-ons for Kodi are drying up... so be warned! Currently down to just 2; Exodus and SportsDevil. If anyone has any other recommendations, please feel free to list (_;)

As a Plex box, these are fantastic. Wireless connectivity on these internal aerial boxes is awful though, something to be aware of. You either need a very good router/ap or a wifi extender in close proximity. I ended up buying a £15 Netgear one and its been fantastic, completely seamless 1080p streaming online and from Plex, no issue.

Heat OP.

Got one of these as a cheapie for the bedroom and it's absolutely brilliant. Can't fault it at all. Mines called a Nexbox but I'm sure it's the same one with different branding. Also has Bluetooth which is handy.

It it's an Android smart TV then you can just download Kodi to your TV & so you don't need this box.
Kodi works better on a smart TV than these boxes.
