I'm sure this is a good price for this particular torch, but I think Maglite have had their day with charging premium prices for torches like this, using traditional leds.
I've been using some of the Deal Extreme CREE led based torches that use different batteries (AA, AAA, 18650) and would highly recommend any of these for performance, battery efficiency and cost - you've really got to see them to appreciate the difference.
I've got a couple of these and they can't be beaten:

Agreed, CREE leds are really good, I have the CYBA-LITE ORION which gives
amazing light from only 1 AA battery :)
