DealExtreme recently added this little device which, although looks really bad from the photo, plays loads of audio and video files from a media card to your TV and comes with a slimline remote too. This has been confirmed repeatedly by the reviews for it at the site.

It's not HD and so has a maximum resolution, but almost all DivX videos will be lower than this boundary anyway.

DealExtreme reports that it supports:

- USB 2.0 Interface (for use with PC)
- Band Preset equalizer(Rock/Classic/Pop/Flat)
- 24bit/192KHZ high performance audio DAC
- OTG feature allows you to directly plug in USB drives into the unit for playing MP3, WMA and JPEG files going through a PC (DivX mode is not supported while in OTG mode)
- Comes with 110V~220V AC Adaptor
- PAL/NTSC/Auto system (via included RCA cable)
- Supports SD/MMC/MS/Flash Cards (17in1)
- Supports MP3/WMA/Jpeg/Divx files
- Supports 32 kinds Subtitle & 8 kinds OSD language

It looks like the plug is a two prong US version, but the device apparently supports voltages between 110 and 220 volts, so a little plug adapter would be needed (unless you already have a matching transformer plug from another gadget). There's a plug available on DealExtreme too for just ~£1.20 - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2709

Usually I'd leave this sort of thing alone, but it seemed way to cheap and feature-full to just pass-by.

Because HUKD still doesn't go to the right DealExtreme URL, here's the product page: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3814

Can you play stuff off a usb stick?

You can play MP3 and WMA audio and JPEG images via USB, but not DivX videos unfortunately.

It plays all formats from a media card though, via the built-in 17-in-one media card reader

That fits into your pocket and great for taking on holiday \ travels etc.? I think not.

Got the bigger version of this that takes a 2.5" laptop drive (similar to this one), ideal for the hotel room or anywhere where you do not want or have the space for a big device ie on top of the fireplace.

Now looking for a device this size that plays .mkv's or support for HD content.

I always thought holidays were meant to be going outdoors and having fun, not sitting on a sofa and watching videos :whistling:
