I just bought one of these and it rocks!! If you use sites like Movie2k or similar for online movies this is the perfect partner. By using Firefox with the DownloadHelper you can download and store high quality Divx movies onto a flash drive for direct playing on your TV.

It works with my 16gb flash pen drive meaning I can store upto 25 hours of Divx Video ready for this player..

The quality is to best I've seen within this low price range.

These are the protocols it will play.

I bought one of these 18months ago when they were dearer, the usb doesnt work at all, I even took 2 back to exchange and none of the usb worked. I even phoned the helpline which simply said send it back, i gave up and as its a good dvd player anyway and plays divx avi etc ive kept it.
just dont expect it to play your films and pictures from your usb stick.

This does not support video play by USB it said it did but I have had two and tried ever convision setting know to man. It plays mp3s and jpegs but that is it

For 3 quid more the sumvision phoenix does play happily from USB, had one for a year or so now. If you don't really need the DVD player bit they also do a freeview box with media player in it for £25. I know some people don't like sumvision, but the phoenix works great for me. Just don't expect amazing results from a compressed divx upscaling to 1080p!

The unit I bought does support video play direct from the USB in both Divx and Xvid.

It will only work with a flash drive and not from a USB hard drive.

Perhaps that's your problem.

I've just watched Avatar, Princess and the Frog and the complete series of Modern Family from the USB pen drive I have attached.

No problems at all.
