Just picked one of these up to use as a music server with my Dac, I use some free software called Daphile which is amazing (https://www.daphile.com/)

I'm sure it could be used with other software such as Vortexbox or any other music server software that works on a PC platform, interestingly it has a GT610 graphics card built in, so software such as Kodi etc would run quite well.

Could be used as a TVheadend server/PVR too?

Granted it's no powerhouse to use as a main PC, but for £54.99 delivered with memory and a hard drive I can think of quite a few uses!

Brilliant.
He's been a 'member' here for 6.5 years, never posted a single deal, but found the one bit of text that says 320gb, even though it says 500gb in 3 places on the ad.
It wouldn't make any difference to how good the deal is if it was only 320gb, in the same way that HUKD wouldn't be affected at all if you weren't registered.

Bit cruel to be honest, and in all fairness it does say this "Harddrive 320G" at the very bottom, so an honest mistake.

It says 320gb once, and 500gb in three places mate - and he/she just had to come along and effectively say 'it's a cr4p deal, only 320gb' despite contributing nothing.
And the difference in value between a 2.5" 500gb drive and a 320gb drive is loose change.

...or maybe that's how you read it? they do make a point. if im buying something i want to know exactly what i'm getting, i wouldn't be overjoyed if i bought this and the hard drive was the wrong spec

Any idea if you can upgrade the memory?
Judging by this first pic - yes - but I think the chipset is limited to 4GB

Cheers, thanks for that I wondered what the layout was like inside. Looks like there is another Mini PCIe there, it might take an SSD in that.

Just found this:

I think this is the OEM (Or another company re-branding them) and it can take 4GB of Ram.

So I take it this is preconfigured for whatever this bazeport iptv software is?

Is it easy to install over?

CPU is quite old right but this is so cheap for what you are getting......I am thinking OpenElec or LibreElec could be a great little box .....I bought one of the Dell Inspiron 3050 or would get one for a play

if this had an additional NIC I would have considered picking this up as a pfsense box. does any know if this atom can playback 1080p x264? would be quite useful to know for people who are considering picking it up as kodi/openelec box

The Atom alone probably can't but with the GT610 you should be ok.

An Atom D2550 is quite an antique. OK, this thing is cheap, but there are better alternatives which are more power efficient even if you must have an Intel CPU inside.

It does but you can use the nVidia GPU to assist you as there's one there. You'll need specialist software though so this really isn't the best box if you want to use it for media playback.

Okay, so if it was a 320gb drive rather than 500gb, you wouldn't still be pleased with it, for £54? Seriously?
And also, the main title clearly says 500gb, so you could easily return it or more likely, be awarded a partial refund if it was just 320gb.
I'm all for saving money on purchases, but people on here are just getting ridiculous.
Oh, and let's not forget that IF it had an extra NIC you would CONSIDER buying one, for £54...
I think you and I just have different outlooks on life dude.
It would be no use to me for a pfsense box with one network port, so yes, if it had dual nic i would absolutely buy this for my homelab. it has nothing to do with my outlook on life lol.

You definitely only said you'd consider it mate, there you go ^

I think for you to DEFINITELY buy it would have to have at least an i5, the drive would have to be SSD, and maybe sub £40 :)

This is very old stock. The company that made it, issued an End of Life notice for it almost a year ago. Not sure what impact that will have on any warranty, etc.

I think this is what you are actually looking for

it's normal to consider a purchase before committing, any sane person will do this. i've now decided that in this hypothetical world where this device has an additional nic i would absolutely buy this. are you happy now?

The only use I see for this POS is as a door stop :p
If you want a high quality music streamer use a Pi Zero W with a £12 dac and moode audio software - cost £25
4k TV get an android box for £25 and flash it with this https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread-2156.html
pfsense, that went out with dinosaurs - linux, a vpn and tor browser for getting into the dark web - free
Total cost, less than this pos and enough left over for an irish car bomb ;)
Enjoy :{

Not at all, but it would seem you could do with an additional source of income if a £50 'PC' is useless to you without a bulletproof warranty.

Anyway, I'm moving on, the penny pinching mentality in this thread is making my teeth itch.

That's not my take on it at all. His exact words were "says 320gb hard drive in description on ebay" which I took to mean that he thought, incorrectly mind, that the OP's spec of 500GB was incorrect. Yeah, he was unlucky at only reading the last bit of the listing, but saying he is worthless was a cruel read to me.

Bulletproof? There is no warranty on it.

Manufacturer warranty: None

I spent considerably more than that on a meal for the Mrs and I on Wednesday night - no warranty with that either.

I don't think anyone will be getting you to part with any money at all anytime soon with those expectations, so yeah, maybe us 'fools' have it all wrong.

Daphile won't run on a Pi, this is more than powerful enough for that use and it will work perfectly fine with my high end hifi and dac.

In the bedroom I have a Pi Zero with a PhatDac on it. Not bad at all for the cost I must say.
