I am buying two battery chargers and 24 batteries from 7 day today.

There have been quite a few negative posts about them here - but the charger spec seems too good for the price, and so adding in a few of these will let me store 3ish videos on each for my phone when on holiday.

I guess I should wait until they arrive - but fingers crossed and HOT.

That is quite scary - I just bought a new torch.

I was intending to get a TerraLux LED bulb for my mini Maglite (2xAA) as I gave it to a kid to play with at my nephews birthday party - as being 'indestructible' there would be no problems - but somehow they broke the LED. So I was going for the newer version which was 6-8 times the power - but then saw this review...

http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50720

The second picture is from a single AAA torch. So I could replace my car torch and wallet torch with one that had more power than the car one which can fit on a keychain if its too large for my wallet.

Thanks for the warning.

That is always going to be a risk on the fast chargers that don't monitor each battery on its own.

That one monitors batteries as a pair - so a trashed battery can get a massive charge when paired with a good one that is empty, or alternately - a trashed battery that could be charged for ever will let a good one paired with it get fried (and pop).

I am sure I have mentioned this already in other posts here.

If you look at the image you will see it did not really explode - as there is no damage to the charger - but all the same frying a battery until it pops does not do using rechargeables any favours.

The ones I am getting charge 8 at once and monitor each of the eight individually.

I will post how I get on.

Thanks again for your warning.

There is a TerraLux 3 x LED head for the 6xD Maglite rated at over 600 lumens.

You can get them now from the US for about a tenner ex postage for the torch - but its about 30 quid for the bulbs assembly.

I am giving it a miss as it seems the bulbs are underpowered with 6xD cells - so in this instance the lower voltage on rechargeables probably wont help.

I must admit I was tempted withe the new 3xAA 3w LED maglite.
