Bit harsh. I have a 32" Mirai and a Panasonic TH42PX60 Plasma. The Mirai is an outstanding TV, compares favourably with the Panny. I paid £289 about 8 months ago. Absolute bargain at that price, but doubt it is a good deal at £500, way overpriced.

Well I have both of them and they both do a good job. I have had the 'purple snake' problem with my Panny (now hopefully resolved). I said 'compares favourably' and that is what I meant. Taking all things into consideration, including the price I paid for both items, I would say they are both exceptionally good telly's for the money. The picture quality on the Mirai is crystal clear. I have it connected to Sky HD box via HDMI (HD is so good). I don't get terrestrial TV reception so I cannot comment on freeview or analogue TV. I also have it connected to a cheapo Philips progressive scan DVD player via component and again the picture quality is exceptional. So I speak from experience. Also in my job I visit many homes everyday where telly's are on and I have to admit I have yet to see a telly producing better images that would make me consider the Mirai a bad deal at the sub £300 price I paid.
