not a very good game imho but for £2 if u haven't played it before definetly worth a try
#2
Quite an awful game but for 2 quid.....
#3
It's not that bad, I was going to buy it myself but I already have the PS3 version. It's a bit of a cult classic though and for 2 quid it's worth it just for the achievement points if nothing else.
#4
It's not an awful game, it's just different. You don't find many poor reviews for it out there, and even a tenner would be worth paying for the experience of playing it. Read the reviews first, though at £2, even if you don't like it you'd still get your money's worth!

Great game for the price.
Try playing it through without using a gun, the experience is a lot better.

Fairly short game, if you liked the assassin's tomb parts of AC2 then you'll likely enjoy this. But it's not as automated as AC2's experience, with each movement requiring a button press.

Definitely worth a look at this price imo.

for HMV this is very cheap. I've often frowned in disbelief at the prices they charge for second hand games.

Like I said, it's a bit of a cult classic really. The industry loved it but unfortunately the mainstream hated it so it wound up going pretty much straight to the bargain bin.

Yeah I quite enjoyed this game, its a bit fiddly sometimes but the experience is like no other. Definitely worth a look if you fancy a change of pace from all the shooters out there.

I agree with its cult status, wonderful game in my view, critically acclaimed but a lot just throw it to one side and dont give it a chance. I got that into it i achieved all the achievements and i rarely do that.

got this new in WH Smith Dunfermline yesterday for £2 (PS3), so might be worth having a look in your local store, not sure if same price nationwide. Also got Far Cry 2 & Smackdown v Raw 2009 for £2 each. They also had either PES of Fifa 2009 for £2 for the PS3.

Though if you look at the user reviews on those links I posted, they are pretty much the same if not higher than the industry reviews?

For example -
IGN Score 8.3, Press Score 7.9, Reader Score 8.1
GameSpot Score 7.0, Critic Score 7.9, User Score 8.0

PS, nice avatar, just noticed it isn't just any old red head....

Very Marmite game, but I really enjoyed it, can be frustrating at times (make that very frustrating), I always got a real good buzz when I got a good flawless run going. Although sometimes after playing you realise that you have jsut spent 40 mins falling off the same wall repeatedly and its like wtf am I doing playing this.

I never understood why people got excited about F1 drivers shaving a fraction of a second of a lap time until I started the time trials on this.

At the end of the day, its £2 folks, try something different.
#15
This is a fantastic game but you need patience and coordination, once you've learnt the combinations and can fluently navigate the environments you'll understand what makes it's so great.
It's more like a Tony Hawk's/SSX game than a FPS (which I guess some people expect it to be as you are able to shoot and its first person perspective).
#16
Great game. Worth 2 quid easily. Its nice to have something different from COD and HALO to play.

Easy/quick 500 gamerscore as well.

Thanks, she's actually the inspiration for my username as well. :D

I think people who know their games usually tend to like, or at least appreciate, Mirror's Edge. Unfortunately most of the people who buy games don't actually know them at all really and are will be happy just to buy the newest cod and fifa every year, plus the occasional casual title to keep the OH/kids/parents happy.

Definitely a great game, with some amazing artistic direction, but it has its flaws, such as the combat. I'm still hoping they make a second one. I equate it to how Assassin's Creed was a neat idea not executed quite right as it was so different, but then the second one fixed all the problems and was awesome. If they make a Mirror's Edge 2 and get it right, I think it would be the start of a great franchise.

Either way it's worth £2 just so you can make up your own mind and possibly be very pleasantly surprised, as I was.

I agree with what most people are saying. Really fiddly game. Controls 4 me is what spoiled the game. Is they were better it could have been so much better to execute jumps and moves. Heat added 4 price. Can.t grumble at 2 spund!
#20
Great game. Loved the art style, and the control system. As mentioned above, finishing it without a weapon is very satisfying.
#21
Fantastic game, I bought it on , Xbox , PS3 and PC , just so I could have a reason to complete it multiple times ! If you dont own it, buy it !
#22
Great game, and nice to see developers taking risks to make somthing a bit different.

Highly recommended, especially at that price!
#23
Great game. Saw an early build of it at a computer show about 6 months before it's release and thought it was intriguing but probably wouldn't work. Nevertheless, I bought it on release, played it and loved it. It's a great shame there aren't more games out there that innovate like this did.

Sadly, in today's climate, where parents seem to buy games on the strength of the name (CoD, FIFA, et al), rather than the strength of the experience, games that innovate are released, frowned upon and roundly ignored by many. Don't get me wrong, I play Halo, CoD, and others and generally enjoy them, (except Black Ops, which I found to be horrifically bad - to think it's the biggest selling game of all time makes me shudder), I just like a bit of variety.

For £2.00, this is a steal. And as someone said earlier, I'd highly recommend playing through without using a gun.

NB - Anyone else notice the similarity between the main character in this game and the main female interest in Tron:Legacy, Quorra?

Is this a nationwide price? Going down the High Street for the Doctor Who free DVD, as well as a few other items, so might well part with my £2 for this game!
banned#27
bought the last 38 copies. Selling on ebay for £6 including £1.10 postage. Making £4.90 profit and gaining good feedbacks ;)
#28
Seems to be an all time low for this game, I paid £7 for my PS3 copy last year but has literally sat on my shelf unplayed since then.
My mate paid £30 for this :D
#29
Well worth £2 - very pretty and so much fun freerunning about the place :)
#30
I may buy it for this. I played it for a bit but just got a bit bored half way through, shame as I was really looking forward to it before it was released. Really liked the music in the trailer.
#31
It's pretty good, but it does have flaws. It's definately not awful for £2.
#32
The key to the game is to not use the awful combat. Try and get through it without shooting your gun; immerse yourself in the freerunning controls, which you're not going to master in 10 minutes, and you'll have a blast. It's honestly one of the most inventive FPS games of this generation. It's far from perfect, but for £20 it's a ridiculous steal.
#33
:) thanx
#34
So presumably (no-one has said yes or no!) this is a nationwide deal? Popping into my local around lunch time, and if it is there I will buy it.
#35
My wife bought this brand new in Wh smith yesterday for £2
Also picked up Far cry 2 for £2
She said that a fifa game and a wrestling one was only a quid!!
#36
I liked it. It didn't have much of a story, but the environments were breathtaking and the action was solid. Wouldn't have liked it at full price, but for anything under a tenner it's a steal.
#37
I really enjoyed this game, it showed a lot of potential if only they removed the gun-play (which was clunky to say the least) and concentrated on the exploration.
