Except it wouldn't. In benchmarks you'd get some bigger numbers, but they don't translate into real-world gains that you would notice day to day. SSDs of any kind are insanely fast.

In most cases you'd be right, the majority of SSDs are effectively indistinguishable under real world use conditions. But the difference in speed here is so vast that you likely would notice the difference in many circumstances. The EVO 960 is an M.2 and the UV400 a lower end SATA SSD. We're talking about one being multiple times faster at everything - literally 4 times faster at normal read and write operations on average, for example.

What's the performance of this compared to the Samsung Evo 960?
Not sure if you're being serious with that question but an EVO 960 would absolutely annihilate a UV400 in every single way imaginable.

Its has a 200TB stated endurance... that is OK, the same as other reputable SSDs.

The specs are really bad for the price.

i3, non FHD, 500GB HDD.

For this price, it should have SSD and FHD. I can cope with 7th gen i3.

I will pass. Wait for next time, for a much better deal.

Good price - after £200 cashback. Question - is this a G3 or G4? I guess the main thing is - is hard drive and memory easily accessible? IE does the whole back cover come off or is there a service access cover?
Its the G4, view of the rear access hatch here:https://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/_processed_/csm_open_471dcebcf0.jpg
Loads more internal shots here:http://laptopmedia.com/review/hp-probook-450-g4-review-intels-new-kaby-lake-cpus-isnt-the-only-improvement/
But not sure why you wouldn't buy the ops deal, 14in is a really good size.
Good to see the G4 has the maintenance hatch. So could easily add a small M.2 SSD to use as the C: drive; don't quite understand why this HP redesign means the battery is no longer easily replaceable.

This is in my opinion the primary reason why HP are "offering" their products at such competitive prices. They need to get their brand in to as many homes and businesses as possible to counter their bad deeds. Unfortunately money means more than human lives to some in this world.
Sorry OP, good deal on the face of it but the brand has skeletons in the closet. not voted either way.
Thanks Palestine, I didn't know HP supply technology to the military.

First comments that come up on Amazon and the third even goes as far as to describe it 'a shiny white turd' ? I'm not spending £30 on a turd.
And it doesn't even come with instant ink? Check other deals like Hp 4658 - you get more credit on instant ink than you pay for the printer itself
This printer is a heap of junk, i own one.
Set one of these up Weekend, very slow but ok printer just seems to cache for ages, this was using a mac, maybe ok on pc

Where are the terms and conditions to say what type of systems they will accept to trade in?
All they says is what I posted above.

For your Trade-in to qualify for the promotion it must be a working, complete and undamaged, (reasonable wear and tear accepted) Laptop (minimum 10” screen size), Tablet (minimum 9” screen size) or Desktop. Your Trade-in must be no more than 7 years old and complete with all accessories including working battery and power supply where applicable.
https://hp.tradeuptohp.com/gb/en/pages/tradein/terms
Section 13

I would suggest taking a couple photos of everything you send to them as some people have been told they didn't send the power supply and get deducted money from the trade in.

Just seen they no longer offer an xp machine trade it. Personally I wouldn't bother now because it's open to interpretation the grade of a computer and sometimes don't travel well. Plus I never give any of my old hard drives away. Was really simple before as long as it had an xp licence sticker... That was all they were bothered about.

They also do trade in on genuine windows xp computer. Can be any age and condition. As long as it has a readable genuine xp licence key attached they will accept. Pick up a broken cheap tower for 10 to 20 quid.
I thought they'd now stopped the any age XP computer trade in and all desktops had to be 7 years or less (I could be mistaken though)

That maybe is the case now I bought a probook 450 for my mum just before Christmas and traded in a P4 hp media centre pc with xp no hard drive and was worth about 20 quid and got the trade in cashback.

Keep in mind that the sustained write speed of the 250GB version is similar to a 5 year old SATA SSD.
Not an issue or not noticeable for many but neither are the headline speeds either in daily usage.
Don't believe the hype.
Drive Size - Sequential Write (sustained) - SLC cache size:
250GB - 300 MB/s - 13GB
500GB - 600 MB/s - 22GB
1TB - 1200 MB/s - 42GB

That's what the speeds drop down to after you've written 13gb! of seq data at 1800MB/s to the drive. Where are you getting that data from? The only time you will hit that cache is if you are transferring 13+gb from one samsung nvme to another, you can;t get that bandwidth from anywhere else on the system. You will never hit that write cache in a desktop.

How does this fair with the Z97 board that does not support M.2 PCI Express v3?
Anyone tested it for boot times etc?
Can the board actually support booting from an NVMe device? Not all Z97 boards can. Asus for example issued a BIOS update to add support for most of their Z97 line.

Yup, Z97 Ranger which got that update.

Top cashback 4.54% apparently = £423.83.

specs not too shabby.
I have this Laptop. It has excellent specs. Plus the SSD is really fast. I can boot up machine in 12 seconds. £430 is a good price. I paid £474 direct from HP. All depends on weather you trust MISCOs 2.1/10 pish poor rating to actually deliver your product with no aggravation. Personally I didn't want to take. Risk so i ordered from HP. At least there customer service is exceptional.

this isn't really that good a deal, FHD screen aside, IMO..

i wouldn't pay 430 quid for those specs taking away the FHD. i don't think the screen is worth the extra personally

Just curious as I am looking to buy a laptop, but what would you recommend as better for around this price point??
Misco is fine. But I'd like to say that: on a laptop, my biggest complaint at budget levels is keyboard and trackpad. Had a cheap Lenovo and it was awful. Got a good HP now. Envious of my wife's MacBook
Would not but from Misco personally. Reviews on https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.misco.co.uk are not good

I agree, bought a monitor there which was paid for express delivery to arrive next two days, got to two days later and we were told it will be another week, then told, it would be three weeks.
They offered cancellation and a refund but that doesn't make up for not getting the monitor in time for a birthday present!
Have not ordered from Misco in over 10 years but never had a problem with them when I did.

Nice to see HP putting in SSDs into basic, affordable laptops whereas, for example, someone like Dell seems to not only be ramping up their prices but continues to charge a huge premium for SSDs.

Okay lets see if I can get this right now...

CPU £150, RAM £20, HDD £30, DVD writer £15, Windows 8.1 Pro (Upgrade to 10) £25, stock mboard £20, stock PSU £30, case £50 (thats generous) even if you charged £20 quid for stock keyboard and mouse would = around £350, that's 20 quid less than the deal.

For £377 you could build this, upgrade to 8GB RAM, pick up a cheap mboard for 30-40 and a slightly more powerful PSU (230V ain't much) and you've still broken even. If you can build a pc this isn't for you.

However if you can't or are looking for a cheap starter pc, this is a good deal, its a good cpu with enough storage and Windows, will do an office or basic email/work desktop fine.

If you have something worth 125 quid or more I suggest selling it and using the money for better compenents, thats just me tho

I'm all for self build if you can do it. However you are not going to get a decent quality mumsy board for £20. Secondly I find that the power supplies in branded PC last a long time whereas similar quality psu's are very expensive.
Is it not £377 after the cash back? £427 before cashback
slightly more powerful PSU (230V ain't much)
You'd hate America. They use 110 volts!

The point is you can get cashback when you send them an old PC back, which brings the price to significantly lower than any home build like-for-like project.

Also I'd love to know where you're sourcing full genuine Win8.1 for anywhere near £25 (from a reputable vendor)

Read the reviews before you buy from this lot. Be wary of the positive ones as they appear OTT and you wonder who composed them.
I just bought a refurbished laptop from them. Laptop was crap and almost unuseable. Battery was described as new but was 80% degraded so in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act from what I can see. When I contacted them they referred me to the Refurbisher which is nonsense. They are responsible as the seller.
They also only offered credit as opposed to a refund. You have been warned.
doesn't seem to be easy to find review for this monitor, this or the AOC £99 one posted last week?
The Phillips screens I've seen before have always been poor but cannot argue for that price
Not a bad price for what it is, reviews are scarce for the monitor though. On the other hand reviews for Misco are less than promising. This can also be bought for around the £99 mark elsewhere .

Isn't this better - just short of 100 pounds after cashback: http://www.ebuyer.com/738064-dell-poweredge-t20-pentium-g3220-4gb-tower-server-t20-3685
yes and no. you would think with it being bigger their would be more room for expansion, however its onboard controller only has 4 sata ports so you are stuffed if you want to stick an os drive and 4 additional storage drives in it.

The HP also has ILO, has better power consumptions and takes up less space, also has internal USB and MicroSD card slots for booting light OSes

Got an order received email, then an order confirmed email with shipping confirmation and date AND the money was taken from my account.

Just had an email to say the order had been 'cancelled', extremely shoddy and underhand business practice if true. Not received the items yet and have emailed to find out exactly why the took the funds if 'I will not be charged for items we cannot deliver'. They had better deliver or refund soon or this will end up as another lost customer and a slating on a well known deals site...

That's a surprise to be honest. They are famous when it comes to cancelling
That's true, but I have received the two I ordered and waited till they arrived before posting.
You were lucky! Ordered mine on seeing your post. Was accepted and now canceled today. Will avoid in future.
Would have been great for my new Microserver, but gives error:

Sorry, this product "OB218991" is no longer available.
Garbage website, add to basket then your basket is empty...... Nonsense

Is 8gb needed for these? I really want one but worried that Windows is an inefficient power hungry hot beast that cooks the computer in two years.

Company has done this type of scam time and time again. They should be banned from this site.
Or you can just stop repeatedly clicking on the misco deal...

Do a search on misco on this site to see what a bunch of cowboys they are. Every deal cancelled. Either scanmers and massively incompetent. Either way i wouldn't buy from them. I would say they are scammers. Hotukdeals mods please ban them.

Voted hot, bought this mainly to strip out the CPU which as some pointed out is worth 2/3 of the system alone. My sister's gaming PC runs on a overclocked Pentium G3258 as a stop gap which is fine for most games but struggles on games requiring Hyperthreads and quad cores (like GTA V) so should be a nice boost.

From there onwards I probably resell the system with the CPU swap and recoup the costs later, a net cost of £50-£100 for a relatively recent Core i7 wouldn't be too shabby!

any good for gaming?
A good base machine for gaming , although you'll need a graphics card that will ft small form factor and that limits your choices slightly.

Need to also note that the PSU is 240 W according to the specs on the page. This will need to be replaced for just about any GPU.
Also the PCIe 3.0 slot is "Low-profile", not just small. Powerful low profile GPUs are very very rare.
This is what low profile means:

I would strongly NOT recommend this for basis of a gaming machine as only the 8GB ram, HDD and CPU are useful for a gaming machine build (and you can get those cheaper). Chassis/motherboard/PSU would be wasted.

It is a good workstation desktop, and if you install the full 16 GB ram, this machine would be good for hosting VMs.

Do not buy for gaming.
I paid £4.99 for 3 days delivery but they sent me via parcelforce ecpress24. I have included this into the price.

Great deal. Thanks for posting, just ordered. How did you get free delivery? I could only see £3.99 excl VAT delivery 3 day 'lite' option. Don't forget Quidco 2.5% cashback.
