It's worth putting an order in, even if you only plan to sell it on fleabay when it comes out.

Not sure if this is going to be released in 2x 13 episode boxsets (like in the US) or in one 26 episode boxset... Going on the price and the fact this doesn't have part 1 of 2 boxset in the title, I'd assume it's going to be a 26 episode boxset.

Description:
"Korono Kei is an arrogant high school freshman, whose thoughts are constantly occupied by that of a girl. One day, on his way home, Kei sees a guy fall off a train platform. He didn't care about this other person and, at first, just watched the scene in amusement. However, Kato Masaku, who was a classmate of Kei in his elementary school days, suddenly gets off the platform to help the man. Upon being asked for help, Kei reluctantly does so. However, while doing this, a train comes. Normally they would have been killed by the train, but they were transferred into a room of a condominium in the blink of an eye. There, they find a black sphere and people who are supposed to be dead, like Kei. They are unable to get out of the room, nor even touch the walls. What is the room? What is this ball?

In the middle of all this, a naked girl named Kishimoto Kei is transferred into the room. Then, from the sphere, a radio exercise song begins to play. It's lyrics:"Your old lives are gone and your new lives belong to me." It didn't explain anything other than that, but give them weapons and ordered them to hunt aliens.

They couldnt cry for help and, gradually, Kei and Kato realize that they are in a real battle and not a game or a TV-program. Regardless of their own wishes, they are involved in this mysterious fight against aliens.

What will happen to them? What is this mysterious sphere, "Gantz"?
Gantz has the keys to unlocking all mysteries..."

Btw, the image is for the US series 1 (13 episode) boxset - Can't find a pic of the R2 boxset.

Total no of discs = 1.

Still an awful lot of money for cartoons
#2
not much of a collection if it only has one disc
#3
The OP is correct, this is almost certainly a misprice. The catalogue ID does indeed relate to the complete 7 disc set!
#4
Very nice price and it's a decent anime series aswell. Voted hot :)

HMV have been having some stupid deals at the moment... friend at work just got in the post today the box set of House. This is £49 in store HMV though only £17 online..... As this is just a silly cartoon I recon £11.99 is right ;-)

:w00t: Shocking statement. You should give something like Cowboy Bebop a shot!

There are always going to be stores that list boxsets (lesser known ones even more so) with only 1 disc pre-release. Like MBeeching said already, other sites show this boxset as having 7 discs.

Download and watch Death Note.

Don't know why I bothered to post this if people are voting a DVD boxset misprice cold simply because they assume "cartoons" are only for kids. It's annoying, the people who say that sort of stuff have never even watched anime!

Am I right or wrong when I an thinking this stuff are those spikey haired japanees cartoons with wierd story lines, dodgey speed streak stuff and a sound track from the 80's..... its a real...... well, niche market thing. a large Niche but niche all the same. A bit like star trek... ;-)

How can you tell the catalogue iD relates to the 7 disc set. I realy want to order this set, I just want to check it isn't a 1 disc "Try me type set"

ngard: You have a mental image of DBZ in your head. There are still series (the genre is called shounen, which translates into young boy) around like that, the difference is they're better made nowadays. 13-21 seems to be the age into that genre these days.

Anime series aren't all aimed at one age group, just like movies aren't all made for kids. Look around, you'll find plenty of dark and mature anime around, and mostly without an 80's soundtrack included.

I'll say it again, download Death Note - Your ignorance will be cured in 20 minutes. It's worth watching just to hear the soundtrack.

Put MVD6018 into Google and you'll understand. :)

650 mins runtime mean this is indeed going to be a 26 episode boxset.

We stand a good chance... Not many have bothered to order it. Unless some hidden UK anime fanatic put in 100 orders, the only reason HMV have been alerted is because it holds the huge of honour of being #1 in the HMV best selling anime list.

People on this forum are funny - It lost -10 heat after I bumped up the thread. Anime and the UK will never mix...

This is an excellent anime. The main character dies due to trying to help a drunk get off the train tracks he fell onto... only for him to get the drunk back to safety then hear a train speeding towards him (If I remember right… his friend helps him with saving the drunk)… and so they both run the other way assuming they will be fine because the train will stop at that point… although the train fails to stop… and so the train hits both of them and you see the main character’s head ripped clean off his body leaving blood all over the place… you then see his head flying onto the side waiting area… then you look through his eyes viewing his last moments of people in shock (the brain takes time to died… and so you can see view/hear stuff) He then finds himself naked in a room (I think he’s naked) and it turns out in order to get his life back… his must play a game… the game is to hunt down “contracts” which turn out to be aliens…

If you like blood and guts (Hellsing/Berserk)… you’ll love this *nods*.

PS:… I’ve only just seen it’s description… lol although you get the idea of this anime… It’s far from a “Child’s cartoon” =).

PS: it's cheaper if you download it... although if I could have had it at that price... I would have brought it....

Anything is cheaper to download. :)

What looks better on your DVD shelf - Official DVDs or burned DVDs?
#19
I have 31 official amine DVDs on my shelf (which looks better =P)... I was getting them from Japan for like £2 each DVD (each box has three DVDs or more)... so I got them for £6 pounds a box set =D.
#20
Aion.... "The Last Samurai"... you.da.man! =D.

Where do you get those from :O, sorry but they really sound like bootlegs, way to cheap to be from japan. I order half my anime from japan (region 2 dvds) And one volume (3-4 episodes) costs ~4-5000yen... That is about £25.
Prices for anime is crazy in japan.

Ouch. I assumed Japan prices would be lower than American prices, not higher than UK prices!

I only have a few anime box sets - Very few were out over here before the end laster year/this year.

- Chrno Crusade (avoided customs...somehow)
- Cowboy Bebop: Box 1
- Cowboy Bebop: Box 2
- Gungrave (£45-50ish + 20-25 custom charge...)
- Heat Guy J (1-26)
- Naruto: 1:1
- Naruto: 1:2
- Samurai X Box Set: Trust, Betrayal, Reflections & The Motion Picture

Looking to add more now we're having old anime box sets thrown at as from all angles, Gantz being first on my hit list.

Arcueid: I brought some of a guy from ebay some years back... then he started selling me by himself (I took a gamble and trusted him... it payed off). You're buying from Japan at them prices? You're being totally ripped off pal.
#24
When I have time... i'll take a photo of the ones I have... it will be faster then typing them out. I do have all of Cowboy Bebop plus the movie.

Cool, will look forward to being jealous. :p

Here's to hoping we see more UK anime misprices/price cuts this year!

quackstar84 - Most of your DVDs are bootlegs from Hong Kong/China/Singapore; you're the one being ripped off mate. They are NOT original DVDs and the various companies that actually put the show together make no money from the bootlegs - You might as well just download the show off the net, at least that way unscruptulous companies aren't taking the profits away those that made the show. Of course if you want to support the shows producers without paying over the top for late UK releases then either import legtimate DVDs from the US or Australia (boxsets are often like half the price we pay over there) or rent from one of the many DVD rental companies out there - most carry a pretty decent selection of anime. Personally I buy a lot of original DVDs second hand on ebay - with the huge number of bootlegs on there, orignals don't go for all that much, and there are some good bargains to be had.

For more info on bootleg anime DVDs check out these articles here and here.
