'Spose you gotta be in it to win it! At the end of the day, I guess the suspense of whether Amazon bail on your order all adds to the excitement! :p

Am I correct in asssuming that if you record to MPEG2 you'll get more than 30mins per standard disc?
#6
I don't think this is a misprice...it was £179 a few days ago:) Good price!

Thanks Edi but will pass on this one.

Good price but there is a problem with battery life and noise from camcorder on recordings.

Batteries supplied with most of the camcorders will stand only for 15-20 mins if using the zoom function & LCD viewing. This is the case with my Canon miniDV too. Compatible high capacity batteries are available at ebay; although bought mine from Pixmania which gives ~ 3 of continuous shooting.

HTH :)

Looks a good deal however I prefer mini DV. Voted hot and added rep though

Great deal edi! I'm very tempted, even though i wasnt even thinking of buying anything like this at the mo .....

DVD camcorders are such a bad idea if you want to edit the content. Great if all you want to do is play what you recoded without editing.

Mini DV is much better quality I would personally go for mini DV tape every time.
#29
I don't see this as being a misprice. I see this as a natural price for a gadget that is not as useful as it seems.

You will be able to buy a high def camcorder soon for £600 and a good quality MiniDV for this anyway. My advise would be to steer clear on DVD camcorders, the sound a cool idea but in practice aren't

Are you sure? The battery which came with my JVC mini-dv camera lasts over an hour with everything switched on.

15 mins is terrible by any standards.

I agree that this is not a misprice -- just a pretty poor camera using a terrible format.

Steer clear of DVD cameras.

The format might not be for you but for some people it might be fine. Those who want to record simply onto a format that they can then play on any dvd player without the hassle of burning it would do well with a DVD camcorder. Those with slightly more technical knowledge can convert the VOB files from the DVD into something more editible.

For the price, this is a great little camera.

Yes... :) Using zoom & LCD viewing kills the battery.
