ok it may be nothing, but when trying to buy some hd dvds for my new xbox360 hd dvd player, i got a couple from the hmv website ( using quidco and the £5 to get a good old saving)

however now i want to grab a few more to take advantage of the prices and the discounts, the prices displayed all are still cheap, however update the basket with a more expensive price.

are they just about to put their prices up?

at the moment you can get things like

miami vice HD DVD £13.99 Delivered

but try and buy it, it comes up as £17.99

so maybe some screen grabs, buy the items through quidco and the £5 off £35 before all the prices go up on screen.

I have changed the title as people will miss out otherwise.

the prices on most of the hd dvd are wrong.

mission impossible box set is £33.99

go through quidco, select this box set and then something which is falsely advertised like superman returns ( or pretty much any hd dvd )

apply the £5 off £35 order

let the order go through

once conformation has been sent out, phone up the help line and cancel the falsly advertised item which they will not let you have for the price they advertise.

this leaves you with mission impossible box set for £28.99 and obviously 7.5% quidco.

it wont be long before they actualy change the prices on line for the hd dvds so if you wanted the box set i would get it soon.

Thanks for explaining this a bit more in PM brum and sorry it was out of the forum for a few minutes.

Basically, buy now as prices look to be rising on some HD discs.
yeah i didnt explain it too well.

i brought superman returns for £16.99 and mission impossible box set £33.99

both hd.

used quidco (7.5%) and the £5 code which made them cheaper than anywhere else online.

the advertised prices are good, but in your basket they go up ( superman went up to £22.99) so maybe it is a good time to buy from there, screen grab the prices they are advertised at and then get a refund on the amount once you have the items.
HMV prices for HD movies go up and down for some reason especially is you pre-order a move they normally offer it for a couple of £ cheaper then they bump the priceup once the film is released.

I don't bother with HMV anymore as they have been useless with the past 5 orders I placed with them and I ended up cancelling them all due to the fact my items status was permantly stuck on "to be ordered from supplier"

I tend to use the following companies for HD DVD's and the benefit of HD DVD is that their is currently no region protection so you can take advantage of purchasing region 1 HD DVD's

HMV were gret before xmas for prices and numerous money off codes, they have been crap since imo both with codes, prices and stock availability
in my experience, currently amazon is the cheapest place to get HD DVDs (market place, us sellers). Go to DVD section->click on HD Section->sort in the order of price, will bring up lot of good DVDs for £12.70ish including delivery

ok hmv have confirmed they are changing the price of the hd dvd's

which means you can now get Mission Impossible box set hd dvd for the amazing price of £28.99 PLUS (7.5% cash back from quidco).

by far the cheapest anywhere i have seen.

simply order that box set and any hd dvd which is the wrong price as advertised, put in the £5 off a £35 order ( dont forget quidco) and then once order has been confirmed, phone the help line and cancel the item which is the wrong price, this will leave you with mission impossible for £28.99

dont forget though to put mission impossible as the 1st item on the list as it takes the discount of that.
the prices have all gone up now

Well I thought they were resonable priced last week and would choose them over the USA ones (MovieTyme, DVDPacific) but now it's got stupid. HMV need to wake up. There store prices are stupid (£20 for Bourne Supermacy) and compared to online prices you can get it for £12 delivered from the states.

On another note, why have the Blu-Ray prices remained the same? A Pro of HD-DVDs is that they're cheaper to produce but it seems that HMV are trying to rip people off.

Long live region free
