I've just been having a browse on the Richer Sounds website as I'm looking for some floor standing speakers (mine keep getting kicked over by the kids and are a bit worse for wear). They have the Mission MX3i speakers back on offer (cheers pavel for the previous post) so I'm SERIOUSLY tempted to pick up a pair of these.

Unfortunately the Yamaha is only available in silver (black is £299) so I'm going to stick with the 671 I currently have.

No, it's not a sofa. Onkyo may well be better the better choice, but I'm not a big fan of yoghurt, and even though I know Yamaha are an unknown brand, I'll stick with what I know :)

Cold for the sarcasm and the fact that Denon are better receivers for the price and Tannoy are better speakers.

Seriously, hot+cold system isnt meant to be used like that and unless your alternatives are the same price or cheaper than what has been posted your point is well..... pointless.

I bought the Missions with the Pioneer VSX-531 and they sound brilliant together. Chuck in a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9's and it's a match made in heaven.

I bought the missions a couple of weeks ago when they were posted on here last time. The first pair had damage and so were returned. The replacements are fine but have differing serial numbers. Interested to hear if others got matching numbers or not?

You can still get the 581 8n black at 249 with vip discount. Dud that a few days ago

Should products contain the same serial numbers across a brand ?

Richer Sounds made me return both speakers even though one was damaged saying speakers are matched at the factory. Some manufacturers show this with same or consecutive serial numbers for the pair. But it seems not to always be the case and Richer now say it isnt for these Missions.

Got these speakers and they are good very clear and bi-directional . Well worth it at 149

yamaha? aren't they make motorcycles?
#15
Been this price for a while now. Chose the DENON AVRX2300W in the end as you get a lot more for the extra money.

The speakers seem quite good, need to check the dimensions to see if they will fit my living room. I think I will go for a cheaper AV receiver though as I dont think I need some off the fancy stuff like Dolby Atmos/7.2 etc.
#17
Question on the speakers, what is the bass like ? Would it be really necessary to get a sub woofer on day 1 or would
these speakers suffice as an upgrade on tv speakers in the interim?

Something cheaper like what? I'm interested in the speakers but don't want to pay £250 for the reciever.

Good mid range components, a definite step up from the cheap onkyo budget component deals they normally have.
#20
Can you get these in Loughborough?

I cant vouch for these but i have 4 Dali book shelves in the corner and if i put a sub in it would shake the house down. Im not a massive bass head but id try these without a sub first.

look on richer sounds there is a Yamaha model for 199 RXV381, also some other brands below the 200 quid mark. That said it may still be worth getting this one for future proofing considering it's not that much more expensive.. I'm no expert so we both need to do a little more research.

Would these speakers be suitable for both front and rear speakers in a 5.1.2 set up?

don't see why not although you'd really want to match them with an appropriate centre speaker.

Yes. In an ideal setup, all your 5 speakers should be identical and full range.

Aren't they make sports equipment, guitars, boat engines and ISA soundcards also? :)
#30
can you pair these with some rear speakers or would it not be advised?
#31
can you use these at front and rear or just front please?

We going for Sony there?

Cheers, read some comments on previous thread for these speakers people saying the bass is pretty good so rarely need to use a sub!

I'm thinking I'll get these and have a 2.0 initial setup and over time might add some bookshelves as my rear speakers.

I have these and still use a sub as offloading the bass using a crossover reduces the load on the amp.

Differing serial numbers on the pair I received from RS last month.

Those speakers look pretty awesome. Can anyone recommend any atmos upfiring speakers to stick on top of them?

I'm only using a Cambridge A1 Mk3 which isn't getting the most out of them so opted to wire a sub in aswell. Very happy with the overall sound now. Depending on your amp output you may or may not decide on a sub. Remember these are rear ported aswell.
