Is this any good?
My daughter needs the internet desperately as she has just got her own place would this be suitable?
#2
This is a really good deal, but more for the non-three customer. Three customers already get a 50% discount on all mobile broadband options.

But wait a minute...can you get a 50% discount on this as well, bringing it down to £3.75 a month for 5GB? I am so getting it if that were the case, like pocket money...
#3
Until these providors cease to charge astronomical charges for going over your data limit ( unlike T mobile who have a Fair Usage policy) I'm afraid its cold in my book. I can see how the deal would be attractive to some but, for me, its not worth the risk.
#4
I use three mobile broadband with 5gb limit for £7.50/m. Its great!!! i do some p2p but I have yet to go over my limit and also if you register at three .co.uk you can keep tabs on how much usage you have left. However if you're going to be a prolific downloader get the top package if it's at half price you CANNOT go wrong!
I get downloads at 256KB/s from some sites which is same as what my sis gets on her virgin media broadband service which is fixed.
But here's the clincher! When i go out i take the sim out of my USB modem and put it in my nokia n95 8gb mobile phone. I have bookmarked HUKD and when i'm in town if a hot deal comes up i'm on to it mega quick (just try walking round town with your laptop!)
My vote? HOT HOT HOT!

That is commitment. You need an HUKD high five!
#6
Guv, do you have any problem with coverage? Have to admit that given the risk of going over based on what you ve said it does look a little tempting. Also, what about their customer service.. ive not heard its not the best.
ps... hope its all work related your 90 mins of daily surf !

Those 2 links make this a really good deal - heat added

I notice this comes with a SIM, let's say I have a 3G phone will that SIM be compatable and does this deal include data use on the sim, ie. the data use which is included in the 5GB monthly broadband useage?

Will your PC/Laptop not connect to the service through the Phone, via cable or bluetooth rather than all the SIM Swapping; and surely then you can receive calls on the phone then too, or am I being a bit simplistic, and 3 will not allow or cater for this?

I am not a 3 user, but have used 2g phones as Modems for laptop and Pocket PC before, how do 3rd generation Phones compare in this respect?

(Not currently in a position to need it, but I can foresee a time soon it may well be a good option for someone in my household)

Should be compatible with any three phone supporting data/web browsing the monthly allowance is what you can use in TOTAL whether via mobile phone or USB modem on pc/laptop. However the data usage with this SIM in your phone is such that it would take hours and hours of surfing with your handset to use up 5 gb (you could not do it with 5gb in one month)

you can use your mobile as a modem via your pc/laptop but then you need an external power supply to your phone (some models) and i reckon the modem is optimised for better performance than a mobile phone as a modem, besides i use the mobile phone to surf all day on one charge you won't get that with a laptop and you can walk n surf!

Would this be Mac compatible? I'm sure my work colleague would be very tempted.

He refuses to pay the astronomical BT line connection for his flat and goes into work at the weekends just so he can chat!

Don't forget you can still change the last digit of the link to the number 1-8 to get the different modems on the same deal.
#14
This offer is available until 31st October 2008

So there's no rush to order it
#15
btw. How much is Quidco on this deal, as there seems to be alot of different amounts?

banned#17
don't do it, three have the worst phone support i've ever experienced, if anything goes wrong you'll never get the issue resolved.
#18
Looks like a great deal. Hot.
#19
Hot deal until you have to deal with Indian call centre.
Dealing with 3 is a gamble.
No vote from me.
#20
price good but indian call centre and charge for going over your limit gets a no vote from me.
#21
is there a minimum contract period for these mobile broadband deals?
#22
nice one mate, have some heat
#23
voted cold, three has cheap prices, but **** customer service.

I live in London and am supposed to be in an area where coverage is good. Myself and 2 other people get really slow or no service at all 90% of the time.

When you call 3 customer service they couldn't care less. The worst customer service ever!

During my 3 days trial period it was fine then it has become worse by the day - am probably going to cancel my direct debit as they they won't let you cancel a service they are NOT even providing!!!

If she just needs in the house she would be alot better off getting an ADSL broadband connection from BT or 02 or a cable broadband from Virginmedia unless she wants portable broadband when yes this would be an ok deal, but from my experience and many other people have said to be coverage isnt really that good unless you live around major cities. :)

If only I had realised this last week!

I really wanted the E169G, but as I only saw the offer for the E160G I ordered that.
I have organised a return for that now and have ordered the one I wanted.

Thanks.:-D

I can't see any mention of a 50% discount on the relevant Quidco page. I can see mention of a lump sum discount for existing 3 customers (eg. £12.50 for 5gb and 27.50 for 15gb). What's the discount for new customers? Can someone clarify this

Hi guys I took out this deal as a three customer and also with work have the Vodaphone 7.2 speed mobile broadband which I thought would be great in London when I'm working there.

I took both with me recently and tried them in a few different places around London and also near Oxford and I was amazed that the three connection and speed wiped the floor with the Vodaphone one everywhere. It was noticably faster changing pages when web browsing though I didn't have the need to download anything so don't know how they would compare for that.

Also tried it out with webcam chatting in MSN and it was a bit slow and froze a few times, same on both.

Hope this helps, it is a good deal in my opinion and has worked really well for me so far on my travels. Much better connections than I have had paying for hotel internet services too.

Cheers

You could just save HDUK RSS feed onto your N95 so you can get things mega fast without changing SIM cards etc... unless of course for some crazy reason you don't have the internet on your phone??

Good positive comments. The people voting cold because of the cap are a bit stupid. Still some people always want something for nothing. 5GB is loads for email checking and surfing.

I havent had to deal with the customer service for years but its a real shame to hear its still hit and miss.

My experience with 3 customer support in India was abysmal. I had £90 added to a bill for data downloads I never made and it was impossible to get it removed.. I ended up paying it and moving to Vodafone.... with 3 - Buyer Beware!

^All the different style modems for the same price, take your pick.

What with my new phone aswell as an eee PC this is v.v.v.v.v.v.v. tempting indeed.

My gf has dealt with 3 over a phone contract in the past and yes they are DIRE when it comes to customer service, absolutely atrocious. But as long as you stick to the cap (check your usage regularly) and nothing breaks this is a fantastic deal for new customers.

Can anyone confirm what Quidco would be on this?
#35
Have been using the 3GB £7.50 for 6 months now,
its been pretty good all that time.
#36
Is this deal for 18 months? (yes just checked) personal in this day and age don't think we should be locked into 18 month contracts I bet after 12 months mobile broadband will be alot cheaper so making this deal not so good but thats my own thoughts on the matter.

Do you actually get in for £3.75 if you are an existing customer??? has anyone done this? I have seen this mentioned before, but not sure that this would have been the case.

i'm not aware of a pocketpc having a usb port on them. unless you mean a windows mobile device then you could swap the sim over and use it for that.

I was under the impression existing customers get it for £7.50 instead of £15 and new customers had to pay £15 (which makes this deal special).
