Isn't this normal price?

The Mobius 1 is super unreliable. It often shows the Yellow led flashing as if recording, only for me to find recordings only saved from a month earlier. (yes I have over-write on) and also tried different cards.

This version of the Mobius simply cannot be trusted. You're much better off either waiting for a reliable Mobius 2 (even more buggy than this) or get the JooVuu, which is similar, but has shockingly poor development. They release accessories like extension cables, then re-call them a month later.

No, don't fall for it.

The OP posted v1. You can tell instantly it's a V1 from the case, V2 is different in buttons and size

No idea whether you're right or wrong, but the top answer on the Amazon page is:

I can confirm that it is genuine and the latest (August 2016) version of the camera (V3)

I'm never wrong ;) This is v3 (v3 refers to the lens version)

This is typical Mobius, doing their best to stay relevant by bringing out packages with new lens (but same old Mobius V1 Camera)

No idea which version I have (I think its M1) but mines been faultless in the car for nearly 2 years now, I got mine from one of the direct seller links on the rcgroups.com forum.
Its on a perm install behind my rear view mirror and the video quality has been spot on.
The tv cable came in handy for setup too;

The Mobius 1 is super unreliable.
Nonsense. I have two of 'em. Both over 3 years old. Both entirely reliable. Possibly the most trustworthy dashcam available, irrespective of price.

Mobius problems are almost always due to faulty / fake MicroSD Card, faulty power supply, or faulty owners who cannot be bothered to read the manual, or are incompetent DIYers who mishandle the camera.

My v2 did the red/yellow light but not recording. My v3s have been faultless. Cracking picture quality and at night the quality is also very good. Caught a few muppets driving like tools and uploaded to YouTube.

There is a new version that records 1080p at 60 frames per second. I really really want!

The extension cable for the lens is very good and means you can hide the camera even more. Its tiny and can be left in place at the top of the windscreen (feeding the wire round the plastic trim is easy.

EXCELLENT app for android, change settings etc from easy interface.

My mobius used to get incredibly hot, and then it would become unreliable - regardless of power supply or memory chip - the company I bought from (recommended by Techmoan as well) were totall uninterested had to get a refund via PayPal, ended up buying a cheap dashcam from China which has proved far more reliable using exactly the same chip and power.

My V1 mobius has been flawless for 4 years 60,000 miles, never a hiccup. Top quality device.

For those that have a Möbius, what's the best method to get a live picture from it on a tablet...for the purpose of positioning the camera's viewing angle correctly? I used to have to take the laptop into the car to get a live view but since going to windows 8.1 it no longer shows the output... ...only thing I don't like about it really.

Is it worth spending another £30 and getting the Nextbase 312GW?

Just had a quick google, but cannot find evidence to support this.
Yours a faulty unit perhaps?

NO!

I have both the Nextbase 512G, and a mobius cam.
Nextbase stopped working after 8 months due to battery failure, and had to be returned to manufacturer. Lots of people experience the same issue - and you cannot get the parts on ebay to do yourself.

The Mobius is older than the nextbase and is much more reliable, has bigger SD card capability (nextbase is max 32GB, Mobius is 128Gb) and the mobius is better pic quality too.

Nextbase are very overpriced for what they are

Is it possible to see what the camera is seeing via a mobile or laptop? (so as to set the view up correctly)
#29
I orderd this and then saw enough negative reviews from the last cuple of months to cancel the order. Has anyone got any alternatives to this? I could really use a dashcam that doubles up as an action cam that is this form factor.

I think you can but you have to use a OTG lead and have a device capable of OTG. I just point mine forwards and very slightly down, with such a wide angle lens it's quite easy to get the full view out of the windscreen and all the videos have been spot on despite taking the camera out numerous times. The only issue I've had is the date resetting over Christmas and that was because I've fitted a capacitor but hardly use the car so basically that's my fault!
