Worth it for Float On alone. Great Album

"After scrapping an entire album when drummer Jeremiah Green quit the band, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock returned to the studio to record the follow up to 2000's 'The Moon And Antarctica'. 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News' continues with the mix of angular guitars and Brock's half singing half shouting vocals sounding like a cross between the Pixies, Talking Heads, and Pavement" HMV

This album's so good that I'm tempted to buy it again to it to someone who needs an education in good, but weird(ish) music. The impression you get from the clever and pithy lyrics is of a bunch of cheery slackers with a wry, sometimes cynical, view of life. One of my favourite albums of all time, surpassed only by the follow up "We were dead before the ship even sank" which features Johnny Marr on guitars.

Heat, and respect.
i love "float on"! i hope the other songs are as good as this. i think i'll order it, heat added.

btw it's the same price on amazon.
Thought this was the excellent bad news band :(

I first heard Float On from Guitar Hero and the album has a good review on pitchfork, I'll give it a try - thanks OP.
Float on is ok but not the best tune.
I'm glad they put it on GH so people would become interested.
They're playing at Reading Festival this year and I can't recommend them enough.
Absolutely brilliant album.
Awesome band that [thankfully] have avoided the mainstream for a loooooooooong time.

"We were dead before the ship even sank" is sublime, be warned though MM is definitely not for everyone, because of that I'd encourage people to listen to track previews on iTunes.

FYI, it's also on Amazon for the same price with free delivery -
