Modnation Racers (PS3) £31.28 at Tesco using code

skipster3000 Avatar
6y, 6m agoFound 6 years, 6 months ago
They have reduced the price to £36.80, so using the code FTSL15-1 to get 15% off it now comes out as £31.28.

The next cheapest as far as I know is £35.85 at simplygames.

Note this is NOT a duplicate of the previous Tesco deal, as it is cheaper now.

Hopefully you can also get quidco/clubcard points?

There is no way on earth this clunker is worth anything more than £20. Agreed with the poster above.
#3
A really good deal. I highly doubt that there is a deal cheaper than £25 at the moment. Good find!

My own link isn't working for me now, but I've checked the URL in the OP and it is correct. Is the link working for everyone else?

Been playing it today and I thought it was well worth the money I paid, but then again, as mine was the errrrrrr... "non-disc :pirate:" version, it was a lot cheaper than this

why?

lacks the sense of speed of burnout
lacks the sense of thrills of split/second
lacks the multiplayer options of blur
lacks the realism and attention to detail of nfs shift/GT
lacks the simplicity of mario kart

almost every other racer on the market right now is better than this one. but if you want little big planet in a racer, sure, go for it. apart from that even the reviews have been less than lukewarm. also played it with a friend who has it, not impressed. neither is he. will buy it to complete my collection of ps3 exclusives though, dont get me wrong. its just not my thing.

fair enough if its not your thing, thats a valid reason! but with what youre comparing with above its not trying to compete or be like those titles it's its own thing like you said similar to lbp. as far as it not being simplistic i'll have to disagree compared to lbp creating a track couldnt be simpler! i manged to create and race round a track id created in 10 minutes!

As you have the full release have they fixed the loading times in this game ? -

"Video of ModNation Racers loading times. Warning: LONG"
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/05/video-of-modnation-racers-loading-times-warning-long.ars

Short answer, no. Although they've gone from a couple of minutes to 30-45 seconds, which is still too long.
But it's comparable to a non HDD installed Mass Effect 2.
I do have the game and it's a lot of fun online and off.
I'm sure the load times will be patched later, but 30 seconds is nothing really I played through the tape loading era, now THAT was long!

Best price around though which is what you should be rating, not whether you think the game is good or worth it or not. Much better value than the Army of 2 deal you tried to champion.

Am temtped to buy this but not sure if theres much point seeing as i just bought RDR.

WIll give it a little while longer and buy it when its sub £30.

I'm tempted by this. I've played the demo and I quite like what I've seen. Hmmm...

Voted hot as it's by far the cheapest around.

it has four players split screen
it has an infinte number of tracks (online maps)
two players can go online at the same time - as far as i am aware the racing game (non-wii) that lets you do this..
you can also create your own tracks

don't think many of the games you mentioned above has these features so i think it is silly to ignore them..

major gaming publications such as ign, cvg and play gave it a 9/10 and even edge gave it an 8. modnation is scoring well for a racer. has the same average score as mariokart and almost identical scores to split second and need for speed. blur isn't out yet save for a beta.

here is a good place to learn more about the game:

http://neogaf.net/forum/showthread.php?t=395760&page=7

here is a sample of tracks you can get:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=modnation+tracks+site:youtube.com&hl=en&tbo=p&tbs=vid:1&prmd=v&start=20&sa=N

bear in mind this game has only just come out but give it a few months there will be thousands and thousand of race tracks to race on..

but ultimately there is a demo on the psn store so yoy can try it yourself before you think it is good value for money.

@anh_duong, do you have the game? If so add me sennasnit, same as here i'll give you a race. You may kick my ass though as i've mostly played offline so far. Got my sackboy code yesterday for being on the beta!

You must be getting confused with the PSP ver as you can't play PS3 "backups".

I hear you, so many games, so little time. I'm waiting for the God of War trilogy to go cheap, I missed GOW2 so a good excuse to get them all.
If your PSN name is different to HUKD, let me know in the friend request.

You seem to say that about most games! :p
#27
if this is the same price as Fat princess then I will definitely get it
#28
Been playing the full version of this, fantastic fun. Yes the load times are a bit longer than normal, but like somebody else said, I am also from the spectrum 48k times so doesn't seem like an issue to me

easy to pick and play, great fun, looks slick as you like and an infinite number of maps and mods, want to race round empire city from infamous? yep, its possible, endless possibilities

and for those saying its had luke warm reviews, you obviously haven't looked very hard http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/108/1087503p1.html (9/10, outstanding is the verdict)

I paid full price, and am more than happy - this will provide tons of entertainment online and 4 player split-screen offline

O RLY?

Generally favourable; an 82 score overall isway, way above average.

Of course you're welcome to your opinion (assuming you've played it for more than three seconds), but don't make up 'facts' to back yourself up :)

this comment is filled with fail, now, where to begin....

first your comparing this game to all these different racers, why?,

"almost every other racer on the market right now is better than this one"

this is my biggest gripe, this is your opinion but most would disagree

i dont mean to be rude but i hope people ignore your unreasonable complaints and read/watch reviews which, have given this game excellent scores minus the loading times

anyway, voted HOT :-D

Well... your statement is anything but simplistic :-D

It practically proves that the game is incredibly basic, who wants to race around nonsensical courses designed in 10 minutes? It's worthless, almost pointless.
Sure there's a certain level of gratification in 'creating' something, but where's the sense of achievement when the whole thing is padded out at a kindergarten level of skill?

More to the point, who on earth wants to race on these torrents of generic curves and bends and their associated environment scheme? I simply don't see the point in eschewing years of carefully crafted level design for the sake of user generated content. Sure there are exceptions (there is killer user generated content or modding available on many a game), but they should be a labour of love that provides users something outside the original experience.

I would rather fire up my Snes and lap Mario Circuit 1 a million times than play the equivalent number of courses generated by the MNR community.

Rant over, not voting

Game has barely been out five minutes mate, how can you slate it so much so soon!? Do you even own it, or have played the full gmae for any length of time? 'user' designed levels can be every bit as good as the ones that are part of the main game, LBP demoinstrated this, in fact the user created levels were mlles better.

Your points may turn out to be valid, but as of now i don't think your speaking from experience or refering to widespread opinion or experiences of the game, which makes your comments unfair and unfounded. I have NOT played the full game myself (only the demo) so I can't give a valid opinion either. The demo impressed me though. I will say that it probably should be more of a budget title, as it's not in the same league as LBP, which is what it seems to be emulating.
