I have not read all the t+c's but ....
I moved into my new house a few months ago, gas and elec is provided here by British Gas. I signed up on a Fix & Reward just 2 weeks ago and now have my £50 free Amazon voucher.....is there any reason to do this Cheap Energy club one now? Can I even do it?
If your already signed up to the cheap energy club and you can see the british gas offer then do it because it says you won't pay any exit fees with this offer and get £30 cashback. If you can't see it then still sign up to the cheap energy club because these offers come around now and again, you'll only get them if your already signed up so might as well do it now
I had already signed up a year or so ago on that site, just kept ignoring the emails to be honest. The british gas one is there at the top, saying it would save me £314 per year!!!
It says £60 early exit fees though.......
Fixed?
WINNING 1YR FIX: BRITISH GAS

Most definitely go for it! Save you a huge amount on your bills and get £30 cashback. The £60 exit fees means if you sign upto this deal you can't leave this tariff without paying a fee but you can 49 days before the fixed term is due to end :)

I am obese and I have a Fitbit and I have run 3 half marathons. I think a lot of people are missing the point:

Someone else's life is none of your damned business, unless someone asks you for your opinion keep it to yourself. Don't pretend you care about someone's health when you don't, you care about the sound of your voice and shaming them.

I imagine a lot of people have opinions about you, your kids, your home, where your from, what you buy and how you conduct yourself but they show the courtesy of not telling everyone because no one cares anyway.
I think people are missing the point here.... However big or small you are it's about "motivation". However much you earn its "progress". However much I walk/run/skip I am active. I am also setting a good example for my kids and others. I am reducing my health risks and when I've spent ten days or a hundred years earning my fiver, I'm going to be in the shop buying my dress size smaller outfit and saying I EARNED it! If you are over weight then more reason to get moving. Negative thinking is what got you there on the first place #rant over
immolator666
Anyone know if there's a way you can just use the accumulated steps per day that the iPhone health app automatically tracks? If the power hungry app rinses your battery, and you don't have a fitbit (I don't quite see the point in them for me, as I only do a metric **** tonne of walking rather than being a gym bunny or such), it would be nice to benefit from all this fresh air without losing battery charge. Tbf, I have a £10 emergency charge bank that goes with me on walks anyways, but if the app drains battery that badly, I don't think it would have the juice to help.

As for all those "morbidly obese" people out there, this clearly isn't the deal for you, so why the need to comment so negatively about simple exercise requirements? 3 miles is really not that much of a walk at all. Really. In the waking hours, say you sleep for 8 hours, you have 16 hours left of the day to move/shuffle around. It all mounts up! 3 miles isn't that far man. It's 1 and a half miles down the road, and the rest to get you back. Subtract your daily movements around the house, all you likely need to do is walk to the shops and back. Even morbidly obese people shop.

The other month my Grandad was talking about how much he used to love walking, and he used to walk all over the place. He can't so much now, but still tries to as much as he can. He used to old adage "Use it or lose it". It rung true, and got me back outside. Claim your life back and walk down the road and back for no reason at all. Do that a few times and you can start to lose the "morbidly" part of your obesity. ;)

Only you can help yourself.

Well said! X
What can you do for a fiver. How long it takes you to earn it and how long to spend it.

250k limit on the property seems a bit ridiculous though. Looked what was available for that much and now wish I hadn't (spoiler: not a lot)
You obviously don't live in the sort of places 99% of us live at. 250k will get me a 5 bed detached house set in loads of land etc in my local (very nice) village.
£250k would maybe get me a 2 bedroom new build house, with thin walls and an open plan bathroom kitchen area. And maybe a parking space. However, 75% of £250k is £187.5, so assuming 4.5 times salary that's over £40k a year to get the mortgage approved. By the time they're earning that, half the first time buyers going for this won't live long enough to finish the 30 year term!

But it's the best option we've got it seems.

I switched to Ovo Energy about 18 months ago, cheaper gas & elect for me. Been with BG, Eon, edf, who were dearer and had poor customer service. I think the smaller companies value your custom more than the big ones and treat you better.

I just switched using uswitch because they have an exclusive deal with Eon which was better than the price with the moneysavingexpert site. I have a friend who is with British Gas and if she switched I told her shed save 20 a month but won't change. Some people like to waste money oO

Some people wouldn't touch Eon with a bargepole!!
Me included, they tried to get me to pay a bill that was 10x my normal usage for both electricity & gas!!
Used nasty, threatening tactics to try & get me to pay. Had to go to energy ombudsman in the end!!
Crap company with even worse customer service!
Good luck with your new provider :)

My direct debit is set I'll take readings every month so they can go whistle if they cocktail anything up. I've had bad experiences with n power, British Gas and Scottish power. Someone will have bad experiences with one or the other that's life ;)

Pay £50 to 30 hours voluntary work? How does that work then? Who else pays to go to work?
It costs substantially more than £50 in most cases but the government picks up the tab because it's subsidised. The receivers of the voluntary work are not paying anyone for it, there is no 'angle' on this besides encouraging young people to better themselves and help them stand out in a crowded jobs market.
Upto £1500 it costs per person!
