Monitor Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM 23 inch IPS LED £154.99 inc. Del. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk
I know it's been posted a few days ago at the same price from Aria, but I know people on HUKD prefer amazon service.

What's the point of HDMI when there's no speakers!
What's the point of HDMI when there's no speakers!
My BenQ has HDMI and a line out on the side so you can connect it to some speakers. If someone wanted to use a monitor for both their PC and Xbox as I do, the lack of a HDMI socket could make this monitor less attractive even with adaptors. No reason to vote it cold imo though, these look top notch.

I have a Dell U2711 which has HDMI connection but no speakers. I connect my PS3 via HDMI for video and use the A/V cable from the PS3 to connect to my Amp for sound.

You can connect the PS3 to the PC in the same precise way with a HDMI/DVI or a HDMI/DP cable. the prices are nearly the same
The LG is not IPS and the stand is flimsy. the dell has an amazing display and a fantastic stand. it also has a USB (2) hub. it could only be questionable, as all IPS display, for intensive action games.
That one uses a TN panel, so no, it's not as good (except maybe for fast-paced games) - an apples-to-apples comparison would be the 23" LG IPS235V, which also uses an IPS panel and is currently available for £125 from ebuyer.
The Dell has a nicer stand and (arguably) superior build quality, but the LG does have an HDMI input, unlike the Dell. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
FWIW, my own experiences with ebuyer in the past were not happy ones, but this was some time ago and things may be completely different now. I'd give them another shot if they were running a deal I was interested in.
edit: Apparantly, if you receive the Turkish model, and it fails, call Dell with the original Dell order no. from Amazon to receive Technical support.

Just had my best ever Yodel experience! Dispatched on Sunday, and was placed into my hands at the front door this afternoon (Tuesday). Not bad for Free Super Saver Delivery. I agree; what a really nice looking little monitor. It complements my 13" MacBook Pro and Canon Pixma MP640 inkjet perfectly - all black and silver. Haven't got it working yet because I'm not sure that it won't have to go straight back.
Forgive my asking you all these damn fool questions, but did you get a UK model with a Guarantee registration leaflet or card in English? My monitor has on the rear label a lowercase t (for Turkey?) at the end of the Model No. and came with two leaflets, one in Turkish and the other in, I think, Russian. There is a one-star review, dated 18 April 2012, by VIRGINIJUS describing the problem and it looks as though I could be in for the same hassle. The recent review in 'MacUser', which introduced me to this display, states categorically that it comes with a three-year onsite warranty, as does the Amazon product page. If we're paying for this selling point then we are entitled to receive it. There is too much Pass-the-Parcel between manufacturer and retailer over this sort of issue. If I'm not getting the full three years, then it can go straight back for a refund!
Anyway, I would be greatly obliged if you could let me know if you have the proper documentation, in English, before I get back to Amazon.

Thank you for pointing that out.
It appears I am in the same situation as you.
I will be emailing both Amazon and Dell tonight for clarification.
If I fail to get a resolution I shall be notifying Trading Standards regarding this issue as clearly it is unacceptable to sell a product that does not match the description.
I shall update you with the replies.

Thanks for speedy reply. I wonder how many other buyers of this product are in the same situation. Many, I suspect. By the way, to clarify, I can confirm now, after a little translation work, that I have what looks like a Service leaflet in Turkish and a Guarantee Registration leaflet in Russian.
I shall also email Amazon and Dell tonight and will let you know what, if any, result I achieve.
Update 5 Sep 2012 09:11
Emailed Amazon last night and tried Dell but could not find a general enquiry button; everything relates to purchases made on the site. Had reply from Amazon which in essence says anything beyond 12 months is the manufacturers warranty and any claim must be made through them. They gave me
contact details (telephone number and web address) for registration purposes.
So, as I said, why do I feel like a parcel? I think it is totally wrong that this situation is not clarified on Amazon's Product Description page before one purchases. I am now considering my options!
Let me know how you are getting on; I presume you had the same from Amazon.

Whatever it is, at this price I'd buy it also with the simple EU 2yrs warranty as any other electronic item. anyway, if you don't rely on amazon words and want to be sure about the dell 3yrs warranty, you can buy it on their shop online for £250...
What do you need hdmi for that dvi to hdmi cable will not do?
do you need HDMI for what? to hear sound from useless monitor speakers? or you just do not want to spend £3 for a HDMI/DVI cable? you know, I really do not understand all this bothering with HDMI. I've never ever used sound from monitors and never will, always had cards and speaker systems for sound quality, so for me HDMI in a monitor is really a no-no

The lack of HDMI means there is only 1 digital input for many, few PC's or peripherals use Display port. I have two PC's connected to my monitor digitaly but I don't have display port on either. HDMI to Displayport converters cost upwards of £80.

i think you are taking your own knowledge on this topic for granted, i think people believe they need HDMI to display a high definition image on a monitor from a games console and such, they do not understand you can just run an HDMI/DVI from the console to the monitor
this will do the same job carrying just display and not audio,
for instance this would be perfect for me as i take my audio directly out the console via toslink/optical to a mixamp i use with my headphones
