Hot, without a shadow of doubt. I can only think cold voters don't have moderately high end AV kit which these sorts are ideal for! Great price, especially with 2.5% voucher and 2.5% QC. Play, Comet and Dabs all have the same thing at £100 or so.

Exactly, I mentioned this was a very good and normally expensive piece of equipment, this is very cheap for what it is.

Yup, the problem is people aren't interested that it's a decent bit of kit when the can buy the bottom of the range power adaptor from Asda for £3.50. Fact of the matter is that for this bit of kit it's a very very good price. Hence I ordered one !

There is a whole pile of Belkin ones on eBuyer that seem to do mostly the same for only £20 inc postage.

Sorry, but that's like comparing a Sony tv with a Beko or Matsui. Anyone with a decent bit of kit will confirm that, given a choice of Belkin or Monster.

One review on Amazon:

" have had a couple of Belkin units, including this one, fail to protect my equipment. Once a PC just died one day, and I found burn marks on the motherboard PSU connector. The other time with this exact unit there was a lightning strike nearby, and the computer PSU was fried along with my monitor and HiFi amplifier.

Both times I tried to claim from Belkin on their warranty. They make it very hard, and you have to send them the damaged equipment. In both cases they at first refused to pay up, but eventually I got some compensation out of them. Nothing like the value of the items though, only their "second hand" value which for Belkin means car boot sale prices"

The hifi industry and their super-duper-extra-fantastic cable swindle rolls on! :-(

Even if you had hyper sensitive hearing at age 18, and could tell the difference (well, any difference as it is not necessarily better anyway, just a tiny difference). as I had (I emphasise HAD), you definitely DO NOT by the time you get to about 30 or 40! :-(
Thing is, they are even trying this con on DIGITAL cable, where there really is NO difference whatsoever!

In this particular case, it isn't even about the hifi "performance," it is about surge protection, where for once electrical specification is the whole point, and in this case, can be easily beaten! If it is physically well made and is good spec, then buy the cheapest that has the functionality you want it to have.

That's about all that is worth saying on the whole subject, just in case anyone is sitting there wondering and hasn't tried this sort of esoteric gear is suckered in by the marketing and the "converts". It's pointless dragging an argument out further, as there are believers and non-believers, just like religion, and just as bound up in imagination ;-(

: [Stands aside and waits for the wrath to descend from on high!]

Interestingly in this case, for an extra tenner, I can say I might otherwise have thought about buying it, for the f-connector connectivity, although with my poor satellite signal due to trees, I don't put ANYTHING in it's way as I lose too much signal ;-(

Those are pretty basic surge protectors, they do not clean the power like the Monster unit. Thus it's not a like for like comparison. Additionally the monster unit uses a different filter for each type (Video/Audio etc) of power socket because no one specific filter is best for all.

Thus the above Belkin surge protectors are really rather basic in comparison.

This is a good deal, make no mistake about it, I'd not be voting an Xbox360 deal as cold if it was 50% less than anywhere else on the basis I could buy a PS2 cheaper, and that is what you're doing. The deal is good, and so is the product to those who understand what it's for!

That's fair enough.

And how does this level of customer care compare to, say, Monster, and the lifetime warranty on their cables which now excludes the cable near to the connector, which is the only part that will ever fail?

Monster aren't a good company.

I've had cause to return or exchange Monster stuff in the past and had no problems at all.
suspended#12
great deal, i bought one of these for 100 quid from comet and they are good
#13
Usual Monster stuff, over priced, over hyped.
#14
Just for information folks,

I have one of these, I was fortunate enough to buy it very cheaply from a local car boot sale brand new and although there is no doubting the quality of the item there are a couple of drawbacks. If you have a few plug style PSU's don't bet on being able to get them all plugged into this thing as there is not much breathing space between the plugs, also if you use homeplug adapters they won't work through it, as it cleans the signal and renders it useless, oh and for some reason my speakers / sub doesn't like it either.
