Beware poor imitations: Monster Jam hits the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the third time for a one-off show on 6 June 2009. In less than one year over 80,000 fans have been wowed in Cardiff and the 2009 show is going to be even more amazing! The high-octane Monster Jam is a stunning family show consisting of the coolest monster trucks and freestyle Motocross with some of the world's best drivers, sickest tricks and craziest stunts.

Monster Jam is one of the biggest and most popular entertainment events in the US running around 250 shows and selling 2.3 million tickets annually.

A monster truck is approximately 11 feet tall and 12 feet wide. They are unique custom-designed machines and weigh a minimum of 9,000 pounds. The tyres alone are 66-inches tall! Monster trucks are built for short, high-powered bursts of speed; these beasts generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and can hit speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can jump a distance of 110 to 115 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 25 feet in the air.

The monster trucks compete in two different competitions - side-by-side racing and freestyle. Side-by-side is the traditional format - the first truck, with the least penalties, across the line is the winner. The freestyle competition allows drivers a limited amount of time on the open floor to show off their skills and outrageous tricks, jumping and crushing as many obstacles as possible.

As well as the tickets allowing access to the show, Monster Jam fans can buy tickets for the pre-show pit party. This is an exclusive chance to meet the drivers of the monster trucks and see the trucks up close. The Pit Party ticket (can only be purchased with a show ticket) gives access to the actual competition floor of the Millennium Stadium where fans can see first-hand where the action happens. The Pit Party is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with Monster Jam and see just how big the trucks really are. It's also a great time to get pictures and autographs.

This will be our third time to Monster Jam and have booked the tickets since last years show. It's superb!
It's a great show for the family with lots of noise and cheering.
They do provide yellow ear plugs if you want them but for the younger kids, buy some ear mufflers!

not really, these engines will hurt your ears. I learnt with going to f1 races that ear plugs are the sensible way to go. if you like hearing things after the monster jam then wear ear plugs during it.

I went last year to the millenium stadium to see this, very very noisy, some welsh **** had taken our seats, we were forced to sit higher up, stewards did nothing, found the atmosphere intimidating in the stadium, boy i was glad to come back across the border to england. Enjpyable show but nearly had a bust up with the local spectators.

Ohh, I will tell my son and hubster now - thanks OP! Peace for me for a day... bliss!;-)
