Sam Rockwell (MATCHSTICK MEN) stars in this thought-provoking science fiction film. After spending three years on the moon as a solitary miner, Sam Bell (Rockwell) is almost ready to return home to his wife and daughter. But as his homecoming approaches, he begins to experience strange things that can't be explained and his employer may have a sinister plan in mind for him. MOON is the directorial debut of commercial helmer Duncan Jones.

I think there were some problems with the audio on the dvd version of this.
Hopefully HMV's batch are ok... if so, it is a good price.

Good film, not as great as a lot of people have made out on the interwebs but for sure an enjoyable watch.

Yeah, the commentary track is playing when it shouldn't be. See the comments here:

Amazon have it for £6.99 too.

Got the blu-ray. I agree with the description 'thought-provoking'. It was a very good film, quite mysterious at times, with the small little details every now and then that add that little touch. I can't wait to watch it again, and notice all the extra things that you notice when you watch a film again. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed the film; my personal 'surprise hit' of 2009.

I wouldn't pay £6.99 for it, but then I wouldn't pay that for a DVD of any film!

Hot!

I enjoyed this movie too, 6.99 a bit steep for me at the mo, under a fiver might clinch it!

agreed, good film, not mindblowing....however, massive credit to the director and lead actor

very good movie like a twighlight zone episode directed by Zowie Bowie, David's son aka Duncun Jones

I'd definitely recommend it, 9/10

Ive seen quite a few "new" films so far in 2010 and this is definitely up there with the best of them such as Avatar 3D and Adventureland. Ive seen some stinkers as well though... namely 21 and Jennifers Body...

fantastic movie and heat added!

but id just like to mention, if you can get it on bluray it will be well worth it coz it looks awesome :)

Great film well worth watching and one of those rare films with a 'twist' that you'll want to watch more than once

I was looking forward to this but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, its a good story but the special effects looked a bit 'cheap', reminded me of the old TV series 'Space 1999'.
How they can say on the front cover "The finest si-fi movie since Bladerunner" is laughable.

I got the impression that the look was intentional 70s retro-futuristic styling with 21st distressed look. See also Gattaca for a similar approach.

And besides, there's far more to good sci-fi than special effects, even if Hollywood would have you believe otherwise.

Yeah, the commentary track is playing when it shouldn't be.

SOLUTION:
I solved eventually after much frustration by cycling through the audio options from the audio button on my dvd remote. Eventually you will find an audio track that doesn't have the commentary.

Incidentally you must do this while the film is playing.

I think you may be right on the styling and you're spot on with your comment on what makes a good movie.
I understand this was made on a shoestring budget - my friends a film writer/producer and having a good idea of how much this stuff costs was very impressed with what had been acheived.

Would heat if it was a blu-ray. £7 for a dvd? No...

Absolutely Fantastice Film.

A real modern classic.

Did any one completely forget that they were only watching one actor play two parts?

Yes a real classic.

I didn't completely forget but I can see what you mean. Won't spoil the plot but you do go with it as you watch.

When the Bluray price drops I'll be adding it to my collection.

heat for the DVD

Very good film. For those complaining about the special effects bear in mind that the movie only had a $5million budget. I thought the shots of the moon "harvesters" were excellent. Models always tend to look more real than CGI.

£8 instore

HMV have a decent sale on instore, great if you can make it past your letter box!
