I went to Tescos on Thrusday & as you walk in there was a brown leather sofa with an offer on it for £399 reduced from £799 (or there abouts). This sofa was lucky to be worth £100 it was poor & looked nothing like the photo beside it.

Cheap leather, cheap cushions, cheap stitching everything was cheap.

So, I am going to mark it cold because I really do not want people buying sofas from Tesco out of a catalogue or online thinking they all have a value of more than a few quid.

Edit: In fact, I think it is the same one I saw & is no way worth more than £100 if that.

You're quite entitled to your opinion but for one, opinions on what people claim as quality are subjective, for two, both sofas get over 9/10 review and for three, they've never been £399.99 so probably aren't even the ones you saw. Pointless comment to make

It's a good price - but I really urge anyone who thinks about buying one to find and sit on one first..as the first reply stated many of the tesco sofa's really do feel incredibly cheap, but thats not their biggest shortcoming...all of the ones that I have sat on are not very deep at all, just 53cm. Thats front to back ignoring the back cushion, so really its about 40cm that you have to sit on. As a comparison, most "good' sofa's have at least 90cm depth (around 75 to sit on), so its a big difference and a good way for cheaper sofa's to save money.

I believe this one is the same, so whilst they are a bargain and i've voted that its hot (as you can't argue with the price), sit on one before buying and remember that the good reviews keep the price in mind. This isn't going to compete with even an "average" sofa which will cost you > £800, but don't expect that and you will be fine :)

What is more pointless is your response.

My friend has a cheapy Tesco leather sofa. Basically, as an extra sofa in a conservatory it is ok, but you wouldn't want it as your main living rooom sofa - too narrow and soft. They had a cheap fabric sofa in the entrance of Tesco Altrincham yesterday and it was horrible and really uncomfortable - I would rather wait and get one in the sales.

Something more comfortable than the floor which is course a bargain a zero quid.

I've come across the bike snobs before now it is the sofa snobs.

Take this deal for what it is (a good value sofa), not what it isn't (a £2000 piece of fine furniture).

I bought a sofa from Tesco Direct over 2 years ago with an even bigger reduction. It has proven to be a very good buy and a complete bargain at the price. So this might be worth giving some consideration to!

More pointless still is the pointless response you make to the pointless response.

Even more pointless is the pointless comment I'm leaving in response to the pointless response to the pointless comment originally made.

My OH bought a pair of leather sofas 3 years ago from Tesco Direct and I can honestly say they are still in excellent condition today. For a cheap sofa we have been very impressed indeed!

OK, so they are not made with the best quality leather or to the highest standard of build quality, but then there are millions of people out there who can't afford top notch stuff, even more so in the current climate. So for many, this will be the only chance to replace their worn out sofas and get a fresh new look for less than £175.

Heat from me!!! <3

good price if you are on the look out for a cheap sofa

Does look very cheap.

If I needed a new one, i'd hold fire and wait for a NICE one to go on sale.

Ok, its cheap at £175, but its still £175 poorly spent if you dont like it.

'Looks very cheap'? Thinking that from looking at a picture says it all really.

the point is that it is supposed to be worth £699...

Just ordered one for the dog - want to keep him of ours which cost us a wad.

Rather than WASTE best part of £200 on rubbish quality that may expire after 3-4years and be uncomfortable for all of that time causing backaches Etc., most would be better off buying good quality, second hand.

There you can easily pick up £2k sofas for £200 or a LOT less as they are very bulky and people need to get rid.

If snobbery is your problem then you will pay dearly for that.

rizla is right but not easy to get good stuff

The local Scope charity shop is always selling sofas for around £100 --- they're usually rubbish that came from a dead pensioner's house clearance. I'm not sure what sort of person would pay £100 for something that's worth nothing at all? The whole shop is full of junk that should be incinerated.
#23
Can somebody please tell me if this a 2 seater or 3 seater sofa?

Oh my god, some people cannot afford to pay £2000+ for a sofa. Great buy for people on a budget....obviously if you can afford a more expensive one go and buy one and stop bloody moaning on here!!!

says it's been discontinued now.......
