It's a stainless steel soleplate, not ceramic, though. Tesco mucked up :)

£20 for a decent iron - Ordered, hot deal!

I bought one of these to replace my ancient Philips one last month. I have to say I don't really rate it. I find it has to be turned up high with maximum steam to work satisfactorily, and it's pretty heavy.

These are in Asda for £17

Anyone with the iron know if it automatically goes off, a bit clumsy when I'm in a rush, leave it standing up and forget to switch it off at the mains.

If this doesn't get hot then it would be a cold deal!!!........!!! Cold ironing would suck!! Good price!

Got mine today. Looks really good, havent tried it yet though. You can register for an extra year's guarantee on the Morphy Richards site.

Cheers OP, missus had been looking for something similar.

Just gave this a go with creased jeans and a t-shirt. My old iron is a Tefal Avantis 90 Anti-calc iron, not as powerful wattage wise, etc.

This Morphy Richards is great, powerful, takes loads of water (420ml, the refill jug is HUGE) and I found it got creases out easier than my older iron. Thanks again.

It doesn't have anti-calc like the old one but I don't think it's as much of a problem with bonnie Glasgow's water supply (?).
