We have one of these and they are great. The ability to set the steamer to turn on different parts at different times is great for making sure everything is fully cooked at the same finishing time.

The only downside is that they are a ball ache to clean as it is quite sizeable.

Why not just use 3 rings at different heat settings?

Wouldn't you need 3 steamers?
I like the look of this, just not sure I'd use it enough. If its all dishwasher safe I suppose I may use it more!

looks a bit too complicated for us. i prefer my steamer from tefal that i just switch on and leave...no confusing temperature and timers ti fiddle with. still vote hot though because i was tempted!

There's no temperature control.

All you do is set the time for each zone and it does the rest.

Once the food is ready, it keeps it warm for up to 40 minutes too

this is a superb product - my wife swears by it - and she should know :)

looks awesome to me

Very tempted by this.

Does anyone know if you can set a start time, so get it to start at 5:00pm for example, so it's cooking while you travel home?

Cheers

Rob

Great job these, you can add everything at the start and then it automatically starts up each compartment to ensure they are all finished at the same time.. Steaming Hot from me

Hmmm. Lots of workspace will vanish and these plastics don't fare well in the dishwasher.
Personally, I prefer a stackable 3 tier saucpan arrangement (which I just found for £20 delivered and it is excellent)
This said, this is a good price for this specific item.

No start delay timer on this item..

I have been washing the plastics in the dishwasher for about a year now with no problems, having said that they take up most of the dishwasher :w00t:

But if no temparature control, how do you cope with different food needing different heat for steaming (e.g. fish needs cooler, veg need higher)?

Steam is the always the same temperature, just one of the laws of physics ..

This is a superb bit of kit, we now use it everyday, it's no hassle to clean, a rinse under the tap is all it needs. We were given it for a wedding present, it cost our friends £100. So at this price it is a true bargain!

And it's not hard to use, it has a picture of fish, potatoes, carrots etc and you just choose what's in each compartment and press the button and every cooks to be ready at the same time - normal tower steamers are proper pants in comparison!

Truly excellent product. Bought mine from Morpy Richards who operate on EBAY at a similar price.

I work shifts and didnt eat that well for years, got one of these last year and never eaten better, good potatoes/rice and Veg every day. Honestly this is a great great product, very simple to use, set it and walk off , come back ad food is perfectly done.Got mine for £75 as was on a special offer (damaged box i think) would happily have paid £150... for £50 (thats about 10 McDonalds) this is a brilliant deal. Dunno what some say about it being hard to clean, i find it just needs a rinse of water and a wipe... much easier than pots and pans cluttering up the place.

Steam can be any temperature above 100 degrees if it is under pressure.
#19
Very tempted. We have the saucepan steamer and would not cook veg any other way than steaming but this keeping the food warm is a bonus.

Not many pressurised steamers about unless you want to buy a pressure cooker instead

I've owned one of these since last Christmas and its functionality is excelent,

Problems I've found with it so far are down to poor quality manufacture, I've had one of the handles fall off in the dishwasher, the "paint" on the buttons seems to be turning back into liquid paint, going sticky and rubbing off,

This said - I use it almost every day its functionality is so good, it also gets dishwashed most days and apart from the handle falling off it's coped well,

The steamer has 3 compartments, you put food in all of the compartments (you can pull the devider out and make it into 2 compartments), set the timers for each compartment and press start, it then counts down starting each compartment automatically so that all the food is ready at the same time,

It also seems to be very energy efficient - a LOT cheaper than running 3 saucepans or 1 boiling strongly enough to steam that amount of food in an old fasioned steamer

If they come down in price much more I'm tempted to buy a spare as I'd be a little lost without it!
