This Morphy Richards steam cleaner is scientifically proven that without the use of chemicals it can kill dust mites and neutralise allergens using its 2000 watt power output. No, it is a steam cleaner. It generates steam. No vacuum.

Are these any good? In the sense is the steam super hot steam?

This is cheap for a reason, it only produces steam at 115 degrees according to Morphy Richards website, here: http://www.morphyrichards.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Product=70455, whereas when you hire someone to do the job their equipment boils the water to over 300 degrees (although I'm not sure what the temperature is at the nozzle).

If you're an allergy sufferer, investing in an expensive steam cleaner may have profound effects on your health, which obviously makes it a great investment.
If you're just trying to look after your carpets to prolong their lifespan, I'd recommend hiring someone to clean them for you, once a year should be regular enough, and will be cheaper than buying expensive equipment yourself I imagine. Another option would be to use someone like HSS Hire, or a local Hire company.
