Heat added. Got the last one in my local Argos.

Breville Classique 1.7 litre is 14.97 in Tesco .

The lids break on these, you'll be very lucky if they last longer than a year

fantastic kettles:-D
#7
Be careful with these. My mother has one and the lid broke after just over a year of use.

Likewise, the lid broke in under a year and I can't find the receipt as it should be covered under warrenty. :(

The lids do break , But they have a 2 year warranty .I have had 3 already.

Why do you need to open the lid in the first place? Can you not fill er up quick enuff with the spout?
#11
No problem with the lid, but ours sprung a leak around the window.

After nothing but trouble with 3 different "modern" kettles we've given up, gone old school and got one with no window and a normal pull off lid, and it was cheaper than this :)

No, the filter allows you to fill it only very slowly

There have been quite a few cases of the glass panel shattering, this makes the kettle downright dangerous imo

The lid on ours was broken in 15 months too. Can only assume it's a poor design and/or materials that struggle with the heat.

Avoid.

I was wondering this also - However I think as I have soft water in Scotland - that may be the reason for me not needing to open the lid.

I've had this kettle for over a year now, no issues - it does what is says on the tin! I bought it at this price as well!
