I have not owned this model, but I did have a Morphy Richards cylinder model a couple of years ago. I can only say that it was the worst electrical buy of my life. It regularly overheated, and then bits of the handle and the brush broke off. I had to bin it after 18 months.

Was it the Performair model? We've purchased one and the suction is really strong. It comes with a 2year warranty so you could of had it fixed or a replacement sent out.

Which? magazine recently reviewed the Morphy Richards Performair Bagless 1700w Upright Vacuum Cleaner Hepa 73350 [click me] and it made the 'DON'T BUY' list.
They said: "Most disappointing was their poor filtration, with dust escaping back into the room".
It got a terrible 32% score, is as noisy as you can get, was the heaviest item tested and ranked last in all cleaners - 22 out of 22.

This 'Performair Light Upright Cleaner, Product Number - 73370' looks similar and it wouldn't surprise me if it used the same filtration system.

So for £40+ there is a good chance you are buying something that redistributes all your dust/mites/bacteria evenly around the room instead of keeping it in that bagless container
