    Good prices here, heat added.

Sugar price isn't the biggest deal though, it would seem to be 88p most places at the moment.

They didn't have the 'Heavenly Red Velvet Cake' on offer too did they? :| Only tried it once when it first came out a few months ago ~ mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... <3

How exactly will that happen if supermarkets aren't paying a fair price? I'm sure farmers would rather get paid a decent amount for their produce rather than receive subsidies.
Who are you expecting them to compete with, other countries with poorer welfare standards?

well its inevitable. If the government provide subsidies then business just pushes the price down to nullify them. Same thing that will happen if they subsidise energy costs.

Okay Ill pay £1.40 a litre so my farmer can buy another new tractor, small farmers need to get competative to sell via other avenues which can sustain higher prices.

    No sympathy for them....

    Ever seen a poor farmer?

Even the small farmers I have come across typically drive a new Mercedes and live in big country houses with 200 acres. (that's a small farm)
No one disagrees that farming is hard work, but the rewards and lifestyle are surely better than stacking shelves or flipping burgers for a pittance.
    No sympathy here.

At the end of the day we consumers have choice.
You can choose who to buy your milk from and thus where it is sourced. Exercise that right and stop whining.

I'm sorry you don't seem to value the UK dairy industry, it's not the difference between farmers buying a new tractor or not, if something isn't done many farmers will go out of business as the pricing is just not sustainable.

the farmers are not to blame its the supermarkets that buy for next to nothing then mark up to extortionate amounts. maybe the farmers need to refuse to sell to the supermarkets for a while and see how they go, if they are losing out anyway they may as well take some control back.

Lowrieh1 - Having gone to the "go to deal" linkfrom your posting, I cannot find any reference to the "Baked by us Farmhouse White (800g), down from 90p to 50p (ends Sunday 22nd) " citation. Is this an In-Store offer only - and if so - was this local to your Morrisons store or for nationwide Morrisons store availability??

Last twice I bought chicken from Morrisions it was rancid (opened on day of purchase) and that was free range

Part of a full page ad in today's Sun newspaper. Should be nationwide. Morrisons doesn't have a 'proper' website, like Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, etc., where you can go and search for any particular item, in order to find a hyperlink to offers seen in newspapers, tv ads, etc.

The Baked by us Farmhouse White (800g) loaves are seemingly of the sliced variety - not the freshly baked in store loaves that Morrisons also sell.
