Morrisons to drop petrol prices to 132.9 petrol price wars to begin! £1.33

Andy_GatesheadAndy_Gateshead

Petrol prices are to be cut by another 2p a litre as supermarkets battle for customers and the global financial crisis drives down the cost of crude oil.
Morrisons will be making the move from tomorrow, with Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, together with the mainstream suppliers, expected to follow suit.
It means petrol prices will have come down by 7p a litre over the past four weeks – a saving of about 32p a gallon.

People moan about a 2p rise in petrol, yet happy to drink away their hard earned or set fire to it in the form of fags. I pointed out to a friend at work, all the money they've spent on fags over the past 15 years, they could have bought themselves a brand new lotus elise they'd always wanted.

Youve got to keep petrol prices high so we can give away 13 billion every year to the world in aid and another 12 billion to the europeans. So pay up fellow mugs.

Meh, any "saving" on fuel is going to be offset through other means. All a false economy in the long ter,. Best bet is to try and switch your life around and avoid using car where possible:

Fuel prices going down... but haven't military expenditures risen (to obtain said fuel)?

Edit: can't find necessary statistics (only available for 2011)

Edit 2: link is a referral to Daily Mail.... fantastic.

    What a whinger...

In fact, it's just been announced that the Ministry of Defence has now balanced its books and filled what was a £38 billion black hole.

This would have actually been quite a bad price about a year or so back.

Eventually it will reach a point where no-one will use cars and panic will ensue as public transport won't be able to cope with demand.

Rather than hiking up petrol costs, how about the government place all the tax burden on smokers and excessive boozers? Those who aren't forced to quit will single handedly take our country out of recession :D

There are other forms of UK government funding conflicts in the middle east that aren't directly funded by the Ministry of Defence.
Plus these funds are saved from cutting jobs in the army, not from withdrawing the troops in conflict zones.
So this article really does not provide any useful argument nor evidence in opposition to what I initially stated.
As for your whinging comment... if you don't like the facts... well... I don't know, I can't even think of what to tell you to do instead...

Heh, in related news if the tolls don't take off it seems the revised Vehicle Excise Duty bands will catch you. Just because that Nissan LEAF you're eyeing up now is currently tax-free doesn't mean it always will be: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/travel/2012/05/fuel-duty-could-rocket-to-reduce-treasury-shortfall

any saving on fuel, with today's soaring fuel prices and a more competitive market has to be a yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Diesel price dropping aswell? I've only been putting in £10-15 a week in the past few weeks, no point fillin up when the prices are dropping all the time. I fear this may be last drop though as oil has stabilised at $110-112 a barrel
