Thanks will pop in tomorrow.

Morrisons fresh Cod fillet is nearly always dearer than other Asda/Tesco (approx £8.50 per kilo) however the fillets are much bigger which I like.

Better fillets than the others and always fresh with my experience.
Heat!

I like fish from Morrisons - it's consistently the best supermarket fish retailer. This is a great price so hot from me!

But also remember that haddock, pollock, whiting, hake and pouting are all types of cod and are usually cheaper than "atlantic cod" which is what most people in the UK refer to as "cod". At last we seem to be seeing more white fish in the supermarket rather than just paying premium prices for one type of cod.

Although on their website home page suggest you buy an alternative to Cod

I will stock up later in the week. :)

I'm sorry but apart from the trout I find the fish in Moggydogs NOT to be fresh at all!
Heaven knows how old the prepared fillets are.

I shall pop in on Wednesday when the 'old' stock should be gone.

Then I shall vote one way or tuther

What do you mean how they are prepared. They come in boxes packed in ice and then displayed on the counter. Then the customer selects what he/she wants and it is then cut and weighed...simples.
OH works in Morrisons on the plants and flowers dept(next to the fish counter),she is sometimes called upon to serve when staff go for their break. When this was on offer a few weeks ago their store alone sold one and a half TONS of cod,so It can't be too rubbish
As to the freshness,Morrisons fish is no different to other supermarkets.Fish is caught way out in the Atlantic and then kept chilled right down in ice,so it will be several days before this fish will reach the bulk of the UK consumer.
If you want your fish ultra fresh I suggest you go and buy off 'day boats'......

Went in today and grabbed some. It said the offer would end on Thursday 3rd March so not sure if it is all week or store specific.
As for freshness - seemed perfect - nice and white and no pungent smell...

Its not what I know about fish, its what you DON'T know with your negative attitude.

So you have voted this deal cold.....I think I will still be able to sleep at night

IMHO if you know anything about fish you will never buy cod - it is a bottom feeder and eats all the crap off the ocean bed.
Also you should be buying more diverse fish as per "bigsky - Feb 28, 2011 13:06" above to help sustain stocks.

Totally agree......I love most fish,Haddock being my own personal favourite,Pollack is a nice meaty white fish and plentiful.
Coley is nice,it just puts people off as it has a brownish tinge to it.Nice in a fish pie.

Herring and mackeral are nice especially grilled on the barbie.

Better stop now as I have been told I know nowt about fish :p

hot from me!

morrisons are constantly having offers on the fish and on family favorites like haddock, cod and salmon unlike tesco and asda where you'd be lucky to see one offer a year on fish

morrisons in my opinion best for fresh bakery products, best for fish, best for fresh fruit and best for offers!

tesco and asda you can do all the price wars you want, i know where il be shopping!
