I found this drink a few months ago when I was horrified at Cadbury's Highlights (which I'd used for a long time) reducing their jar size and keeping the price the same. Requires a bit more stirring than more expensive brands but I think that's a small price to pay for such good value.

This works out at 20p/100g - a fraction of most of the competition. You may be surprised if you give it a try. I was.

I don't think something that's 42% sugar should be marketed as a healthy alternative. :|

Just buy cocoa and dissolve it in milk; skim if you're still knee deep in the low-fat fad.

Unsweetened cocoa is pretty unpalatable. NuMe IS healthier than many alternatives. I am not a low-fat faddy eater. This is low fat and REDUCED sugar. I usually like it at half the suggested strength which equates to 20kcals/drink. Doesn't sound unhealthy to me - and as i have precious little sugar in the rest of my diet I don't think it's excessive. Furthermore, cocoa powder is at least 4 times the cost.

At the 'suggested serving size' with 200ml water, this has 40 Calories. Cadbury's has 120. Morrison's standard hot chocolate also has 115. They both have about 19g of sugar compared to about 6g in the NuMe stuff.

So yes this is a healthier alternative, the standard ones have 200% more calories.

Water alone might be healthier but I doubt 40 Calories of hot chocolate every night would hurt any diet. More so, you'll do better making small long-term choices, like switching to a lower calorie hot chocolate, than spending a few weeks (hopefully no longer) obsessing over every 40 Calories. You've got about 2,000 to play with everyday!
