I complained to Tesco once about their fuel prices and they sent me a standard letter which stated:

"....that we are not primarily a petrol retailer and it is incidental to our main business, and sell fuel as a convenience to our customers.... we aim to be competetive in each locality we have an outlet."

Thank goodness for Asda, Morrisons and even Waitrose who are often the cheapest near where i live.

Might be the cheapest but you'll get more mpg with the likes of Shell, BP and Esso. Supermarket petrol has it's octane boosted with Butane!

thought it was biofuel, but hey ho all to their own. I believe all garages have to use 3% or something of biofuel by 2012.

I guess those 5ppl off vouchers are not given out routinely, as we shop in Morrisons & for the last 2 weeks we've spent nearly £100 a time & never received any vouchers.

It does make me laugh that our local Tesco's is 5ppl dearer than the Morrisons across the road, no wonder they had members of staff directing traffic into the place today.

tesco are getting too big and not caring about their prices now a days, as they think ppl will just come to then any way! We have 2 tesco, a sainbury, and an asda witin 5 mins of each.. Last week both asda and sainbury's were 99.9p but both tesco's were at 103.9 but ppl were still going to them!

How are Morrisons and Sainsburys doing it so cheap though, are these other places just ripping us off to high heaven or what?

Shock

:-(Guess I just need to check http://www.petrolprices.com/ for my next cheapest.

Don't bother...most of the prices seem to be out of date, and many many petrol stations (often the cheaper ones) are not even included.

They claim the prices are updated daily, but a recent check showed many prices were last updated 16-Oct-2008. With prices changing daily, you're better off keeping your eyes open when driving around :)

BP down to 97.9 at some of it's garages too:thumbsup:

Anyone have any details on this 5p off per litlre when you spend £40 or more instore? Can't seem to find out how it is supposed to work. Do you have to ask for it?

Voted hot by the way.

My nearest Esso garage is 95.9p and I need to fill up. Not sure if I should fill up the car completely or part fill just in case it drops further!

Hidden away on the back of the voucher in teeny, tiny letters, it states that the offer is only valid at the following Morrison stores:

Barrow in Furness, Berwick Upon Tweed, Beverley, Bishop Auckland,Ebbw Vale, Failsworth, Greenock, Hull (Holderness Road), Jarrow, Kendal, Nelson, Northampton (Victoria Promenade), Sheffield (Ecclesfield & Halfway), Small Heath, St Helens (Baxters Lane & Boundary Road), Stamford & Wilshaw.

So not all Morrison petrol stations are included in offer - no idea why though.

EDIT : Just to add I'm talking about the extra 5p off voucher which comes with £40+ shopping in-store - which is on top of the price reductions listed by OP (ie some people can get unleaded @ 92.9p / diesel @ 102.9)

The Glenrothes Morrisons is also now at 97.9p, so is the Shell garage.

Strikes me a bit odd to see Morrisons petrol station mobbed, yet the Shell garage (20 yards up the road) is empty. Happens all the time.

Lucky you have the option, our local big Tesco crushed all oppostion within 6 miles of me, I dont trust tesco petrol so its a real pain!
