yes story mode is included. It is almost the same experience as the consoles but without king of the hill multiplayer. It includes arcade, story, multiplayer, 1v1 or 2v2 the challenge tower and a new challenge tower using touch function etc, the krypt.

Mainly challenges taking advantage of the vitas touchscreen but damn fun.
So technically speaking the Vita version is the definitive version and worth the money.
PS: No cross platform multiplayer... :(

One thing to point out is the graphics aren't a direct copy like with marvel vs capcom so as long as you don't expect the same quality then it's all good. :)
i also own it on the ps3 and the best difference for the ps3 version andb the ps vita version is that
wait for it.........
playing the ps vita version of the game online is ssoooooooooo much better, there is no lag, you can talk to the person you are connected to without the need to do any additional crap and it connects to every game wether your playing it against the ai or another player online very fast load time is about max 6-8 seconds
watch out though there are some beasts playing it already lol

Sounds like a problem with your PlayStation Vita stick(s), rather than the game.
