Virtually a whole wall of £3 HD DVD's at my local store. I clarified with the assistant and he said almost all of them are at that price now.

I don't have a player myself, but it looked like they had some good films. If you have a player these are a bargain at that price!!

pretty standard price for HDDVD

Voted hot. HMV sell a selection for £2.99, but quite a lot are much more expensive, so could be some real bargains there.
#3
Got a few HD DVD's from GameStation that were more expensive elsewhere. Cheaper than buying them on DVD lol.
#4
Might be a silly question but can you play them on a regular dvd player and get the benefit? Because I have a HD tv?

If you've got an xbox 360 you can pick up a HD drive for around £30 for it if you really want one.

CEX have them at £30. If you have a store local to you, I would check there!

they were before hd dvd was dropped like a sh1tty stick.

well worth it for hi def films, although only for the back catalogue, i used to have one but got rid at just about the right time it seems, i got all my money back on the hd dvd player and the films.

i may get a stand alone for the bedroom, these films and a cheapo player would be good

i've just been to the gamestation in chester, all theirs are £3.99 and there wasn't much you couldn't get from hmv for less but still worth a look
#14
Nothing at my local store, my friend Maxine works there and they've not had a bulletin to reduce them any further.

Most were £4.99 and apparently they had some preowned at £3 earlier that morning.

It was a nice idea but basically it never happened (or happened on VERY few disks) I've not seen a single one.

Might have a look in my local this weekend.

Well yes, unless the disc is a hd-dvd / dvd combo, which ar mainly for the us versions, 1 side is the hdd version and 1 side is the dvd version.

You can get them from PC World for £30 as well although not many stores seem to have any left. Northampton has some or at least did a couple of days ago but not sure on any others.

£29.99 @ PC World

my local had them in for £3.99 last time i checked (3 weeks ago) although they did have Dragonheart in for £2.99 the week prior, but when i went back to get it, well it was £3.99 too.

i might pop down town tomorrow since i have £37 hmv gift card doing nothing, and might pop in and see what GS have in the HD-DVD section.

if they are down to £3 then ill grab anything i couldnt get cheap from HMV - if i can get 5 for £15 id be chuffed.

Its not a true combo, as the film is only on the HD side, the DVD side just squeezes on more extras, since very few older films have extras in HD anyway.

The combo format was mostly attempted in the USA, but proved unpopular due to the higher price of $5-10 above the regular HD-DVD version (this is when HD-DVD was selling at $25-30), and very few examples made it to the UK, Star Trek season 1 was never released on DVD by itself, so the combo boxset was the only option for both DVD and HD-DVD consumers, at a rather fleecing £105... thanks amazon for dropping it to £14.99 back when I got it!
#34
At my local store, Bridgend, all 3.99 apart from Swordfish. Too embarrassed to buy it even at 2.99 since it's obvious you're only buying it to see Halle Berry topless.
#35
I just picked up 5 from the store in Altrincham. they have quite a large selection left still aswell.
#36
my local store had them up at £3.99 - picked up 300 whilst I was there
