Personalise with Coloured Backs

Every day is different, and your Moto G can be too. It’s completely your call if you want to put on a different coloured back, or set up actions so you’re not bothered when you don’t want to be. Moto G gives you many ways to just be yourself. Moto G has a back you can switch out, just like that. Buy any back—or 10 or 20—that speaks to you. Some have grips. Some have prints. Some flip. All are fun. Then decide to match, or change things up for no reason at all, whenever the mood strikes.

Camera

Moto G has two cameras: one for what’s in front of you, and one that’s facing you. Touch anywhere on the screen to take a shot, or hold your finger on the screen to take multiple shots in a row. Then switch gears and record an HD video or capture a panoramic picture. Just swipe to see your gallery or zoom in on an image. Within three taps, quickly share your best photos with friends and family. For getting the shot and staying in touch, Moto G is all the camera you need.

I am thinking of getting this and selling my iphone 5 16gb.

I do not know if it is a good decision or not.

I like the fact it has a sd card slot, an FM radio and 4g.

Are you sure you need to add a top up?

It is a sim free phone you are buying.

fwiw also includes 1 year free Gourmet Society membership.

Why is this a good phone/deal is it purely down to the cost of it?

I got mine this week from tesco and it has got one fault that people fail to mention on here that class 8 and 10 sd cards don't work in it they are too fast for it to handle.
#14
Quality phone for the price, only downside for me is the terrible camera (for those that view that as important). Doesn't put me off as I have a decent camera for taking photos anyway.

So my Mrs has the original 8gb moto g and it's great but the photos it takes can be poor.

Is the camera any better on this model?

Unfortunately not :(

I'd be willing to pay a bit more for a decent camera on it.

been using mine in Corfu and taken some lovely photos. Not true that it's entirely terrible; it's just poor in low light. HDR is the best I've seen though - really fast and produces nice dynamic pictures.

If you're looking for a good android experience, the Moto G delivers, it really is a fantastic android phone, regardless of the low price. However coming from any iphone 4 or greater, you'll be disappointed by the camera. While it's adequate and works fine as a point n shoot, it's unable to compete with high end phones in this area.

I was thinking of getting 2 of these phones for me and my daughter, but in the end decided to get the acer liquid e3 from three on pay as you go @134.99 http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devices/Acer/Liquid_E3?featuretab=Camera&memory=4&colour=Black I like the idea of there all you can eat data when you top up by at least £15, you also get 300 mins and 3000 text, and with there 321 pay as you go sims you know were you are, Plus all three mobiles are now sold unlocked/sim free.

who would ever expect it to for £139? I'm actually very happy with it - and I've come from a 1020 and a K Zoom over the past few weeks. it is easy to use and take fine snaps in daytime for casual use. You won't get any National Geographic contenders on it but what do you expect? I would have thought the market for this phone isn't people coming from high-end phones anyway.

I bought this to last me till the iPhone 6 comes out (or possibly the Note 4) and I've been VERY impressed with what I've been able to get out of it.

you could use a Three SIM in this though...and I wouldn't Touch an Acer phone - practically no chance of it getting updated and it won't compete in terms of build quality, speed and battery life. As long as you're happy though that's the main thing :)

The Camera isn't bad at all, I'm not sure what everyone is on about. Maybe yous just don't have any skills...

As Engadget says in it's top 15 phones you can buy right now:

The price is right and you're getting a quality screen, camera and silicon

Nope. The £139.99 is the SIM free price. It is also available on PAYG (T-Mobile, Orange, EE, Vodafone) through Phones4U for £129.99 plus the obligatory top up's you refer to. (_;)

Might be worth mentioning this deal again from Tesco Mobile.

You pay £4.50 a month for phone (£108 in total) and £11.50 a months for 750/5000/2gb (4G) = £16 a month in total. Get 2 or more phones on the same contact and you both get to pick a free 'bolt on' of extra mins/texts/data.

I do wonder if in store will offer it for the same price.

Do the navigation apps work properly on smartphones? do they use a true GPS signal or are they just guessing were you are using wifi or signal coverage. on my phone I have enabled GPS but it also tells me I need to enable wifi, if I don't enable wifi it puts me way off from where I'm actually located. How does enabling wifi work when surely I am only allowed access to my own home router?

fwiw also includes 1 year free Gourmet Society membership.

phones4u are doing it with 1 year free gourmet society membership AND Nurvo 10" tablet on certain monthly contracts.

unless they are doing a different Moto G 8GB phone??

EDIT - looks like the Gourmet Society AND tablet offer is only on the non-4G version

Nice photos. I think most people who harp on about it being a crap camera are just repeating what other people have said without actually using it themselves.
Most phone cameras are poor in low light, and your photos prove this camera isnt as bad as people like to make out.

Hot. Cheaper than buying from Tesco.
Might be worth mentioning that Moto G 4G suffers from a software problem handling fast microSD cards. Most cards faster than class 6 will not work at all. This is recognised by Motorola as a bug and they're working on a fix atm due to be released with 4.4.4 Android update.

I bought one from Tesco last week. Not as good as the Nexus 4 but the 4G will come in handy one day when it comes on Three to my area.
