It's definitely 1GB RAM. Don't purchase this with the hope it'll be 2GB because you'll be disappointed.

I cannot understand why would anyone want to buy this if you could easily get the Motorola 4G full version (not Play) for around £130.00.
Motorola 4G full version (not Play) has hetter specs and the white version is even come with dual sim card. More over this play version is 1GB RAM version make it unusable for a more serious task apart for simple surfing.

Why is this so hard for people to understand? If your budget is £100, it's £100 - not £120, not £150, not £200... Some people have stricter budgets that some, and while you or I may not be one of those, £30 (30% more in this case) is a lot for specs and dual-SIM functionality they just might not care about. 1GB is fine for basic tasks, it will just complete things slower, this is just like the Windows tablets threads where so called 'experts' turn up saying Windows won't run with 1GB when it is actually fine.

If you are after a new branded handset for under £100, this is a good purchase, end of.

They emphasise this:

Note:The device comes with 1GB of internal RAM

I'd say it's 1GB

Moto G4 Play has 1GB RAM with 16GB storage and there is no other variants of Play (otherwise you mean X Play or Moto G 3rd Gen with 2GB RAM and 16GB Internal memory)

Model for UK market only comes with 1GB RAM as confirmed by the few user reviews for the Play version.

Googling the model number on Amazon supports the 1gb version.

no point in buying a phone today with only 1gb at 99.99+.... although Amazon description suggests 2gb. if that's wrong I guess u can send it back or ask for a, let's say, £30 refund, then at £70 would be w for deal

There are many different versions of the G4 Play for different markets. Unfortunately the UK version is 1GB RAM paired with 16GB Storage.

this is no deal with 1gb ram.

If we talking about UK model please refer to Motorola UK website, not GSMarena.

I was tempted to get it at £90 from CPW on upgrade because I wanted a stock Android phone with NFC but with 1GB RAM it's no good to me. Although saying that the Moto E 2nd gen I've been using for the last month has been wonderful. It's really surprised me how well it performs and it doesn't hang at all. Pokémon Go works too, although that's the only app that can be open at the time.

As a user of this phone I must defend its lack of ram. For a 1gb of ram phone, it is surprisingly responsive. Can run most apps without a problem but obviously some of the more labour intensive apps do lag. I've had it since it was released and found it to be quite the good little Android.

Would my son beable to use this for pokemon go i was about to buy it but then on reading I was thinking not.

Motorola 4G full version (not Play) has hetter specs and the white version is even come with dual sim card. More over this play version is 1GB RAM version make it unusable for a more serious task apart for simple surfing.

Negative. Will give memory problems all the time. Some people only look at brand name, not the old rubbish it is selling.

5.5" screen is to big for some, I find even 5" screens a bit to big for my liking.

My Nexus 4 was the perfect form factor imo, cant understand why no one makes an equivalent :(

Phone size, this play is quite large, and the normal is massive (being an original MotoG user and a similar sized G3 user) Not everyone want massive phones to watch things on.
If only Moto had made this Play with the same guts as the standard G4 and not fobbed everyone off with what is now basically an 'E' revision, I'd be buying a moto phone again.
The G3 size is about as large as I would want to go, I'd prefer it to be smaller still though, original Moto G and the E are a nice usable not getting in the way size.

I'm with you on this. My Nexus 4 is eventually due for replacement. I cannot find anything comparable for the price. Great phone.

Not at the moment you can't. I know because I'm trying, don't want a white one.

Biggest problem with this deal is the number of folks who will not read the description properly, think they're getting a Moto G4 for £99.99, and realise too late that it actually says Moto G4 PLAY - an inferior phone to the G4 in a number of ways.

I can recommend the moto G 3rd Gen (2GB/16GB version), its marginally bigger but you get used to it. Although I limited my budget to under £150 so if your willing to spend more you might get something better.

If you are after the 5" size you can't go wrong with its cousin the Lenovo K5 with 2GB ram and 16GB storage, same price at Argos but only white last time I looked.

Is it the same form as the Moto E? I bought one of those for my mum. It's not as flat but seems ok

The Sony E5 may be another option to look at? Marshmallow, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB storage, NFC, 5" 720p IPS, etc. All specs available online and it can be had for £100 at CPW

Oh I've just noticed, the title says Moto G4 Play 4th gen which is extremely misleading. This is the 1st gen (the only one). People will think it's Moto G4 4the gen going by the title

What are you talking about, they are all 4th Gen series hence the 4 in the name.

Moto G4
Moto G4 Play
Moto G4 Plus

1st gen released 2013
2nd gen released 2014
3rd gen released 2015
4th gen released 2016

Exactly - Motorola are including the generation number in the model name now, to stop all the confusion. For example, the new Moto E 3rd generation will be the Moto E3. So it's the opposite of misleading! G4 cannot be anything other than 4th generation.

Not for the UK, it will only be sold in a single 16GB/1GB RAM variant here.
#37
sorry for this but - THIS IS MOTOROLA MOTO G4 PLAY (new 4th gen series) WITH 1GB RAM AND 16GB INTERNAL STORAGE. Done. Stop confusing other people.
#38
For people who are looking for a 5" phone with >=2GB RAM There's also the Lenovo K6 (and K6 power, out next month) as well as the Redmi 3s Prime Global ROM with 800MHz LTE (band 20) on honorbuy (euro stock, no tax issues)

Shame there'll seemingly be no Moto E3Power for the UK.

Managed to get this for my wife for £109 last month. The personalised one direct from Motorola
