Looks a good deal to me,£120 cashback by redemption and £35 quidco.
NOTE THIS IS A 2 YEAR DEAL.

you lead an active life and want an Android" touchscreen phone that won't get damaged easily, choose the rugged Motorola Defy.

Motorola Defy - the rugged Android smartphone

The Motorola Defy gives you all the benefits of Android - but in a robust smartphone that can cope with a bit of rough treatment. The Defy's touchscreen is scratch-resistant, thanks to its thin yet tough Corning Gorilla® glass display. You won't find this on other Android phones like the HTC Legend

The Defy also comes with a hard plastic outer casing that resists grime and water. Say you're working on a building site, it's a hot day and theres lots of rubble around. You receive a message from a friend - and you can read it straight away because your touchscreen stays clear of dust. Later, the weather changes suddenly and there's a rain shower - no problem, you can still use your Defy outdoors without damaging it.

Make yourself heard - wherever you are

You need to make an urgent call to a mate from a busy bar. There's dance music and other background noise to cope with, but you can still hear what your friend is saying - and he can hear you as clearly as if you were in a quiet room.

It's all because of CrystalTalk" Plus - a clever feature that uses two microphones instead of one, plus advanced noise filtering technology. It's not available on other Android phones like the HTC Legend or Samsung Galaxy.

See what's new - in an instant

The Motorola Defy comes with a special feature called MOTOBLUR. It automatically delivers your messages and social network updates to a universal inbox on your homescreen.

So rather than having to open individual apps for Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, you get all your updates and tweets in one place - plus text messages and emails too. It's the fastest way to keep up to date with what your mates are doing.

T-mobile are good for tcb. allways paid out for me.
The defy is a very underrated phone.
#11
£15.32 x 24 = £367.68
£367.68 - £120 cashback = £247.68
£247.68 - £35 quidco = £212.68
£212.68 / 24 = £8.86 per month

£8.86 after cashback is a deal.

Agree. Wonder if it's worth phoning T-Mobile direct and see if they can match this deal without having to wait for cashback. Guess they can only say no so nothing lost.

Hi - is anyones TCB cashback showing for this deal. Is v good in my opinion.
#16
Just looked at the deal. The tariff is

T-Mobile Data 300 - 24 Months £5 Bill Credit .........what does the £5 Bill Credit mean?

Also - has anyone had experience of Phones4U as a cashback provider?

Thanks
#17
300mins 300txts is normally £20.42 tariff according to t-mobile website so it looks like phones4u are crediting back £5pm?
Unlimited data is using up your free booster though so you are effectively losing out on the free, booster worth £5 as unlimited data is included with all Android phones when dealing with t-mobile direct so you get to use the free booster for something else.

Are we sure that it's £5 Bill Credit (24 x £5 being £120) AND £120 by redemption? I've got a feeling you'll be paying £20.42 for this each month and only get the £120 back by redemption.

You've got me worried now. If that's the case I will be cancelling and sending a complaint to Phones4U.

I think the £5 a month credit is from the manufacturer (motorola) via the service provider (T-mobile) and the redemption offer is from the vendor (P4U).

I've left all the details of the transaction at home so can't phone them up until later tonight to check.
I've checked their website again and they really don't make it clear at all. I've saved some screenshots of the web page in case proof is needed further down the line.

You could try their live chat (think its from 10am) or posting on their forum to see if you can get an answer BigAde
#23
Sorry to scare people - it just seemed a coincidence that both amounts were £120 in total.
#24
Posted on the forum - awaiting a response.

Got this response on the fourms:
"The monthly line rental for this deal will be £15.32 and this includes the £5 billing discount so you can expect to pay £15.32 per month for this item.

The £120.00 cashback is separate to the billing credit, this is a redemption deal which means you just have to send your bill to us at various points throughout the contract, more information can be found here.

Hope that this has helped to clarify things."

Looks good in that case. Would go for it, but still have a fair bit of credit to use up on GiffGaff.

BigAde - how long did you need to wait for delivery, and was it free?
#27
A bit of a panic there for a while, but I think their statement removes any ambiguity on this one.
It's not arrived yet. Delivery was totally free as far as I remember.
#28
Big Ade - I've just ordered (as I see that you need to be connected before the Feb 1st date to get the 1GB fair usage)

How long before they did your credit check and confirmed your order? I've got the order number but was just wondering
Cheers

Took two days to get an email to me with a "there was a problem with your order" type message. Apparently they will phone within 24 hours to put it right. Hope that doesn't mess up my Quidco.
#30
Got my credit check OK and said that it is being processed last night.

I'd watch out for them calling you - e2save and other companies have used that ploy to avoid cashback (they say it all has to be done online to qualify). Maybe check with Quidco. I used TCB.
#31
Still not received a phone call from them.
#32
Get on the live chat on their website and quote your order ref (the one on your email that said they were processing). Avoiding speaking on the phone will not jeopadise your cashback

I am loving the phone arrived 2 days ago.

Got the despatched email this afternoon. Will get it on Monday, can't wait. Has anyone rooted and got rid of bloatware on the defy?
#35
They managed to mess up the credit check for some reason and have cancelled the order. I've just re-ordered, so they'd better get it right this time.
#36
Make sure you get it connected before the first of feb

From what I understand it's possible to root the Defy but not possible to remove MotoBlur because a firmware doesn't exist without it. Not a huge problem and it may be something that changes in the future though. SERIOUSLY tempted to get this myself!
#38
Anyone know if this will be locked to T-Mobile / Branded etc?

Cheers
#39
- Not T-Mobile branded in any way (no bloatware)
- Not locked (just tried with a Giffgaff (o2) SIM and made a call)

Gets shipped with a 2GB mini-SD card as well.

One question if anyone has this phone - how can I get rid of voice dialing (try moving the icon to the rubbish bin - but it doesn't go away. Also is the only app that the app killer cannot shut down...is like a cockroach and won't die...!
