seems an ok deal to me, heat added. This phone isn't out that long and for any accident prone teen that wants a smartphone, great deal.

Ok can i just start by saying this is the Motorola DEFY and not the Motorola DEXT, so dante2000's post is irrelevant.

The DEFY has had excellent reviews against similar products in the Android market.

It's not a HTC, but it's not trying to be. It has a fast processor so actions are quick and respond well.

The only downside is that not being 1GHz means it wont meet the Android 3 minimum requirement but Motorola are looking to roll out Android 2.2 to this device.

I reckon it's a cracking deal!

To dante2000, you posted exactly the same thing in another thread about this phone, you clearly have no clue at all what you're talking about so maybe you should quit whilst you're behind

on the £7.50/month tmobile SIMO deal you can also get this IP-67-certified handset for £100!
total cost works out £280 =( £7.50 x 24mth ) + £100 for the 24 month term
but in addition you also get 600mins , 3Gb data , 500sms & a free booster .
My pal just got this deal
My point anyway is spread the cost of the phone but in addition also get some minutes/web/text to play with

DEFY (Europe) Upgrade to Android 2.2 planned for Q2 2011

Root and flash a custom rom and you will get it before then, maybe even get rid of MotoBlur if you are so inclined.

You can get it for £254.40 from Amazon, sim free: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/278-5046459-8994724?a=B00485CGHS

Thus cold for me, but it's one of the best low end smartphones on the market.

@ajgrahamdotcom

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one.

I would put Mororola Defy in one of the best mid-range android smartphones. It performs very similar to 1GMHz smartphones but half the price of high-end smartphones at the price shown by amazon.

My first smartphone purchase and very happy I'm not going to be tied to any long term contracts. Freedom at last!

Thanks also to Modestas, because of you I found the cheapest Mororola Defy : ).

Fantastic Phone which WILL receive the 2.2 update in Q2 2011. Using it right now, never had a better phone and I have previously owned iPhones.

Hot from me just waiting on the obligatory "the SF is better post"

I could bet with you that it will never receive the update. It was the same for Dext. While the same phone Cliq received the update in America the Dext on the European market was ignored. It is exactly the same phone different name...

It is relevant, it is a Motorola phone which CEO promnissed that all their phones will be upgraded. After almost 1 year of waiting they denied the upgrade of Dext while Cliq (the same phone) was updated...

If you would read my comments you will realize that I am not speaking about the phone. My comments are about the manufacturer. The fact that on their site is listed that it will get an update doesn't mean anything. Maybe some of you should read more carefully the information that you are posting here:
