Imagine I managed to get a free contract with free Sony Ericsson k750i a year ago. Total cost? £0. Would actually make profit if I remembered to use Quico.

in this one u get £25 apart from free contract from a reputable retailer.

I got from carphonewarehouse. Phones4U? Me and few other friends have bad experience over them. Their salepersons always use whatever tactics to persuade you to buy from them, really scared me away.

can i have a bit of reputation. cheers

why did you choose to reduce the price plan at mth9 while you can at mth6? if you do u pay 6*35.00 + 6*20.00 - 340.10 = -10.10, you make money already without QuidCo.

with QC, of course you make further 60.00, making of 70.10.
#12
is this a good deal then?

how do you reduce your line rental after 9 months on a 12 month contract?

Depends on whether you trust phones4u to pay the cashback, I personally only trust carphone warehouse as they can't run away. ie if they don't pay I can march into one of their stores and seriously damage their reputation whereas I can't with any of the others.#

EDIT - Maybe not seriously damage but if I put off a load of their potential customers one day then I think they'll do something about it pretty quick to make sure I don't come back the next day!

Don't beg.

Back on topic - this is a budget phone, a seller some have had problems with so not guarunteed cashback, and the quidco isn't guarunteed either... If you think its worth the risk of being 400 quid down for a 30 quid phone by all means go for it, but it's a fairly big commitment so do look at the other deals around before committing.

actually for orange you can downgrade your tariff after 6mth on a 12mth contract, 9mth on an 18mth contract.

basically, just phone them up to change the tariff. it will take effect after the next billing date.

Ok, maybe I now trust these guys, have bought loads of pay as you go phones from them before. Didn't realise that they have shops all over the country, 5 within 5 miles of my house!!! Am just going to check the t&c's for the cashback and try to confirm if you can downgrade the contract as this is turning out to be a good deal imo.

Usually downgrading invalidates cashback.

Here are the details for claiming cashback:

You may redeem your cashback by following these steps:

Print out the redemption voucher, which you will receive within the first 30 days of us connecting your handset.
No later than 7 months from the date your mobile phone was connected, send the completed redemption voucher, together with your original 1st and 6th month bills by post to:
Redemption Department
Phones 4u limited
P.O. BOX 1276
Mid19458
ST5 9TE

We will endeavour to process your cheque within 30 days of receiving all the documents.

Important Information
The 6th month bill must show that the user is on the same or a higher rate tariff as at the date of connection.

Assuming you can downgrade through orange as stated in a previous post then it shouldn't have any effect on cashback as they say the sixth bill must show you are on the same or higher, doesn't say anything about not being able to change afterwards, and you've got all your cashback by that point anyway. No need to claim any afterwards!

Not too sure about when the 6th bill will turn up? If it turns up 2 days before the 7th month since connection is up then you're screwed.

EDIT- I assume that the sixth bill turns up about a week after the end of the sixth month therefore giving you three weeks to get the claim in.

According to the terms and conditions you can lower the contract at 6 months but only to the next lower amount. ie you can't drop to 20 a month as per op, only to 30 a month.

Really started to get annoyed with Carphone Warehouse, was on the phone to them for over 2 hours yesterday on 0870 number. Used my o2 contract so luckily it was a free call. Won't go in to massive detail but their web-site doesn't take Alliance & Leicester to be the name of a building society which as we all know it is! So I phoned them up and they said I could place the order over the phone, great I thought, but they won't honour the cashback I would get if I bought on-line (£15 direct from CPW and £35 quidco) So per phone I would be £50 down and as I wanted 4 phones I would be £200 down. We spent 2 hours arguing about this, basically getting thrown from department to department with everyone saying it wasn't their problem. I said I wanted to speak to a manager, a fair enough request after 2 hours on the phone. They all refused, apparently it's their policy that managers don't speak to customers even about complaints.

I basically gave them three options:

1. Fix the web-site so I can order over the net getting my £50 cashback.
2. Give me the £50 cashback ordering over the phone
3. Make me order over the phone and not give me any cashback so I lose £200 just because their web-site doesn't work properly.

They refuse to choose an option but the one they are trying to make me do is number 3 but of course they can't say that. They don't seem to understand that they would have to pay me that cashback if I went via the web-site. I have expained to them so many times that I'm not asking for anymore than I would get if I could go via their web-site.

So my question is, do you think I'm being unreasonable here or should CPW either fix their web-site or give me the cashback I would've got?

EDIT - Sorry, just realised this was in the phones4u thread! This is about CPW not phones4u!

I understand your disappointment but often web deals aren’t available over the phone; that’s just the way it goes. They have lower overheads with web sales I guess and are trying to encourage people to use that method.
A cardinal rule is never to forget that these companies don’t owe you anything, they are setup to make money and can write their own rules provided they stay within the law. If you remember that it can help to alleviate the disappointment when things don’t go your way.

I know that they don't owe me aything but I would've thought that they would honour their on-line offer if their web-site didn't work. The same happened with Norwich union and the guy on the phone honoured it straight away.

Just about to claim my chequeback now I have my 6 month bill.On the cb form it also states to include a copy of the till receipt for your qualify handset.
Erm I bought mine on the website therefore have no receipt as such.
Need some advice on the matter please.
Also has anyone downgraded line rental yet and if so what to?Surely one can downgrade once cb has been received!

Would've thought you could downgrade once you've got the cashback.

You'll need to get in contact with p4u about the receipt, take the persons name and contact details and record the phone call. Then if you get refused because they told you to do the wrong thing then you can go back to that person and play the call and get them to tell their manager that you have been refused based on what they told you to do so they should then sort it out for you.

It is a bank not a building society and has been for a number of years now. Do you have to select Bank or Building Society? Do you get an error message?

Can't remember now, it was a long time ago. Think the option was for both, either way I would've tried them both. Some of the people I spoke to already knew of the problem, the annoying thing is that it worked fine on e2save and osps so why they can't do the same on their main site I don't know!!!
